ILX Front Plate Mounting Options?

Anyone got any ideas how to mount this darn thing other than the factory mount. With the ILX lacking a significant front grill area I'm having a hard time figuring out where to mount it and really don't want holes anywhere visible on the front of the bumper.

Considered the magnet thing but it seems unreliable, at least the way I picture it. Any ideas post em here so we can hopefully come up with a solution.

The only place that would look good is the stock location.
Though I suppose you could fab a "relocator" bracket that comes from underneath the car above the small black bumper piece.

Id say if you live somewhere that requires it just put it on the right way because that looks the cleanest apart of no front plate at all.

This would be about your only option. I had it on my cobalt and loved it. Any time I went through the car wash or had to detail the car it was easy to flip down.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/05-2013-Mustang-Hide-Away-Retractable-Front-License-Plate-/370821600327?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5656b09447&vxp=mtr
Then you could do something like this... (Forgive the cobalt Reference)

Thanks for the ideas, I'm going to see if I can't get a mitsu Evo bracket and modify it to fit like the ILX like it does on the EvoX, I'm not throwing in the towel just yet

I've been messing with aftermarket JDM plate mounts and without custom backers or bending them I just can't figure out a way to make them work

I bought this a while ago to go on the RDX, but never installed it. Maybe now.

I like none, but here in Texas, you can still get pulled over for a ticket even thought it wouldn't be valid because of a screw-up in the law last year. (You can maybe mount this in the center, also.)

Here in Houston, the police are worried about much bigger things than a license plate not being displayed. plus, they are usually behind you.

I live in Sugar Land, a suburb of Houston, and the only time people are pulled over for no front license plates are when leaving the bar at 2am.

I am running no front plate.

Sugarland has grown over the years, nice place. I lived in Houston from '79 to '94. You're right, but it does give some of my friends in the DPS just another reason to pull you over.

I'm up in Spring & haven't had a front plate on my TL in the 3 years I've had it.
I only personally know of one person that has been stopped specifically for no front plate & it was in a really small town between Houston & Louisiana.

My car parks outside and parking patrol comes through frequently I have been tagged on my last 3 cars and am getting tired of paying the fines and taking it to get signed off.

While I disagree that it looks WHACK anywhere but in the middle (I used to feel that way but after owning and Evo X and then a WRX with Grimmspeed mount I got used to it). There is just no where else to mount it.

I wish Acura would have given os a tow hook in the front

thats because those cars are EVO's and STi's....
it looks okay for those cars as theres just a large gaping hole in the middle.

but for acura's and how the hood and beak alll come together to the middle, it really throws off the design.
middle or none.

Yes, I do. I'm back in Beaumont, my hometown, since '98 by way of Illinois. Where are the postings for the meets?

So, that would be a great place to explore mounting options for the plate.

Didn't realize there was that much still going on down there. I used to go to Planet Zero when I work down in that area (Gillman Honda)

I grew up in Silsbee, which is the "small town" I mentioned above where I know someone that was actually ticketed for no front plate & nothing else.

I have many friends from there. It's not that far away.

Anyways, I picked up these small hole "clips" that are already polished black, to plug the holes from the lic. plate. Looks better, to me, than the holes. I'll let the ClearBra installer deal with it. Though, IMHO, they don't look bad.

I used ones like the one on the left.

planet zero got shut down.
too many ricers for me.

we just do local acuarzine houston member meets.
which cuts down on a lot of the rice and we get to meet people from the internet. lol

we do a Big Ass Texas meet annually.
we just had a tri-city meet in Hewiit, Texas. an acurazine member owns a hotel there and we had the pleasure to stay!!

there's an acurazine regions thread, where you can chat with the locals and find the current meet up spots.

Clips like that is what I was going to look for. I want something a lil smaller hopefully. I need to order some paint though so they match my car. Holes don't really bug me though. I dont even notice them and no one in their cars could if they tried.
They will definitely need to be filled properly once my lease is paid off. Damn I cant wait for that day. Ill be making so much more by that time. Easily double what Im at now. Huzza for being the first warehouse manager of the biggest gun range in the western united states!!
