Your craaaaaazy... IMO after I test drove the frs at my local dealer. The way the motor lags with like almost no torque is heartbreaking. I was going about 25-30mph in 3rd gear at around 2800rpm, dropped it from 3rd to 2nd and rpm went up to around 35 I believe and as I floored it..... Went no where until I reached almost 7k. I didn't even get to smash 3rd gear because by the time I got to it, I had to turn. Boxer motor is garbage. It's like driving a d15b non-vtec, I feel as if the 99-00 em1's b16a2 had more torque then the frs.

FRS vs S2000 vs RX-8
OP,
ILX or Mazda6 -- both driver's cars. You have a tough choice! The Mazda6 has gotten a lot of good press, but nothing beats a personal test drive. Thanks for posting your experiences.
I'm partial to the Mazda6's styling, mpg, and pricing. Also, the Mazda6 has a split rear folding seat which is important to me. ILX doesn't have it, neither does the Accord, although the TSX does.
For fun, here's a video (18 min) comparing the FRS, S2000, and RX-8 (since 2 of the 3 models were mentioned in other comments):

Although Mazda stick shifts are nothing to sneeze at. I recall one auto-journo, looking for another metaphor, describe Mazda stick shifts as slick as "snot on a door knob".
