That last review I think is representative of how much better received the ILX appears to be in Canada than in the US.

That could be because they had the EL/ CSX here for quite a few years so we are used to a smaller Acura model up here. They were Civic clones with minor exterior changes, leather and navi options and a little more power if memory serves me.

The Consumer Reports review was generally positive, too. It was one of their two recommended choices in the last issue.

Interesting, I don't get Consumers Report so thanks for that info. The more I drive it the better I like the ILX.

i absolutely love this car. (I used to drive a 98 Civic)
All my peers love the interior. It has a great look, and roomy. Although now I'm the designed driver for road trips.
Although I would like the ILX to be faster, I'd rather it save me gas. Speaking of which, I have no idea how you guys are getting such good MPG! I drive the 2.0 Tech, and I get around 25-26 MPG. This is from half city and half highway. I drove to San Diego and still only managed about 29-30 MPG. I'm not the speed demon either, I usually cruise around 70 on the highway and 30-40 city.

Anyway back the ILX. Although I love the ride, I do admit it gets a little wobbly on the freeway. It feels like my car is "swaying" back and forth as if the wind is blowing me aside. I'm not sure if that's due to the road or something. And it sometimes gets a little rough over rough highways.

As far as looks goes, this car is a beauty. I try to get in a wash every 2 weeks. I'm hoping I can add some all weather mats, and front and back lips, as well as side skirts. One thing at a time gentlemen (:

I think my favorite part of this car is the sound system. I enjoy my music at a above average level with strong bass, and this car hits the mark every time. Love it.

A couple of things:

- You should of put your post in the positive things about the ilx thread -- we need to counteract the trolls, lol
- for mpgs, cruise on the highway at 60/65, you'll notice a definite increase in your mpgs. I cruise at 55/60 -- I'm not in ever a huge rush because I like to leave early or I get there late (I take the train to work so my highway trips are never work related)
- the suspension is soft so you get the wobble, mix that with the way highways are paved and you have the car tracking all over the lanes...sometimes its tough to stay straight in a lane on the highway (particularly around bends).
- lol, I wish there was tech on manual so I can share your love for the stereo. the premium one is pretty decent...one wonders how the base stereo sounds like :blah:

one last thing: a steady foot on gas yields more mpgs than going on and off on the gas.

I bet you drive more in the city than you think. Did you know there is a handy Miles Per Hour display in the MID? This shows your average speed per tank of fuel so it could reveal more about your driving conditions. Use this in combination with the dynamic MPG graph so see what speeds are more efficient but I'm with spdandpwr, fuel economy falls off a cliff as speeds increase. In the CR-Z which has more coaching available, we find that 50-55 (in 6th gear) is the sweet spot where wind resistance and low engine RPM meet.

Agreed. I went from cruising 65/70 to cruising 75/80 and it's hurt my mpg quite a bit. I would guess the sweet spot for 6th gear on this car is probably around 65mph, and wouldn't be surprised if fuel efficiency were 20% lower at 80mph.

In 6th gear, I've found the sweat spot to be closer to 58/60, anything higher and I can see the car giving it more gas to sustain speed. This car isn't particularly aerodynamic.

Acura had the EL/CSX just an upscale Civic 4 dr for years and they sold not too badly. They were basically a civic with leather, nav options and a bigger engine if memory serves me. As a result the ILX is a big step up from those models in design, also a step up in price mind you and small economical cars sell well up here.

I tried searching for the drag coefficient but was unable to find it via google. It seems like acura isn't publishing it, at least not yet. I do know that the TSX is pretty slippery.

Tyson seems to be getting good gas mileage with his 6MT on highway trips, and with speeds into the 70-80 mph range. On my short highway test drive (not an owner yet. still on the fence if i'd like a new ILX 6mt or a used TSX 6MT with nav, which is hard to find but the do pop up every now and then), the ILX 6MT seemed to have no problem reporting 35MPG back at 60-65MPH. That was instantaneous mileage reported by the car (not sure how accurate this is), however, on a flat section of i-95. Plus it was a short trip, so may not be representative of a real driving scenario. As always, your mileage may vary.

If you cruise highways at 60-65mph in an ILX you should be able to do better than 35mpg during those stretches. Obviously it depends on hills/traffic/acceleration/etc, but I get 35mpg instantaneous when I'm on a flat highway doing closer to 80.
