Emblem installation

Hi everyone, I'm looking to install a pair of aspec emblems on the fenders of my ILX. Do I need to do any prep work besides washing my car? Do I need to clay bar the area or anything? Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.

The cleaner the area is, the better the glue will adhere. In addition, it'll be harder to clean that area in the future so the more you do now...

Wash with Dawn, clay bar, wash again and wipe it down with alcohol. Once you've affixed the badges, you might want to wax the immediate area before it gets dirty to ease cleaning afterwards.

That looks great! I just installed my A-Spec emblems today. It really gives it a more complete look. It reminds of the F-Sport packages that Lexus offers, aside from the performance upgrades. Although, I still don't understand why Acura omitted the front/rear body kit. I have plans to purchase and install those sometime down the road so I have a "true" A-Spec.

Clearly this is your opinion, but what is odd about fender badges? I see your point on the new Camaro badge being placed on the lower rear bumper seeming odd.

It may look odd, but that's the factory placement. However, those badges are sure expensive! How soon will someone be putting those badges on their non A-spec car?

That just makes me laugh my ass off because aspec is literally nothing special. Its frankly a slap in the face to the tl aspec guys where the aspec actually has performance upgrades.

All anyone needs are the damn body kit and a couple other add ons to be able to use that over priced metal tab.

i think its just an odd placement of a badge!

fenders are supposed to be sleek!
as it functions are for wind and it also looks beautiful.

while i doubt a badge will affect the wind turbulence, it just throws off the sleekness of a fender

obviously, my opinion and dont let it sway you one way or another.

and yes, the camaro's badge placement is OEM as well. but it just throws off the sleekness of that rear end!

almost like a big sore. your eyes are naturally drawn to the odd placement of the badge

Speaking of weird badge placement, the SH-AWD badge on the RDX is also a little strange. Almost too low.

Yeah, originally I was not going to get the A-SPEC trim, but it was a pretty small cost difference and I mostly cared about getting those wheels. I think they look pretty sharp.

I would have told my dealership i want the aspec then when they showed me one without a kit id ask why the aspec doesnt have the aspec kit. Then id ask for one with the kit and compare prices. Then id act like the price hike was absurd and say im no longer interested.

9 out of 10 dealerships would get you the kitted aspec for the same price they offered the non kitted one for.

LOL

Personally I do find the price hike absurd without the kit included.

If say, the ILX aspec got the same love the TL aspec got then I could see the increase without the kit being justified.
