I was curious to see what color combo people are getting what this car and what age group your in. It will be nice to see if Acura is meeting their target demographic.

I still think that stated target demos are a smokescreen. IMO 'old' people want to be young and 'young' people want to be old. Er... old people want to be 'youthful' and young people want to be 'mature'. I'm almost 50 and I've been waiting a month for White/Ebony.

I might go with black / taupe, to recreate the same color scheme I had in my 94 Integra. 44 here.

Do they offer the ILX in taupe in Canada? In the US your only choices are ebony or parchment in the leather.

 

I guess I meant parchment when I said taupe. The light brown / beige. If that's parchment, that's what I meant. Sorry for the confusion.

 

I agree with that. I'm 36, I like all the colors except The brownish one.

Nice. Yeah, I'm 27 and I'm thinking of the Polish Metal with Parchment. I like that color combo the best. The black and parchment looks nice, but you know how black is to keep clean!

 

Pardon my ignorance but what do Acura (other car companies) think are the colors most desirable to each age demographic?

 

I don't know the answer to that but I wish Acura would offer more choices of colors. Milano Red for example is sexy and would look nice on any of the other vehicles besides the TSX SE. Other thing my friends tend to complain about is the fact that they use the same color on the mainstream Hondas. I guess some people want more differentiation between the two brands. I don't know if Lexus and Toyota do the same, but when I see a Lexus, the paint sure looks more upscale than a Toyota.

 

Unfortunately, I don't work for them so I have no idea how to answer your question. I just know that white exteriors are a girls favorite color, lol.

24, Polished Metal Metallic. Originally wanted black, but after seeing fingerprints and dust on one of their ILXs on the lot, changed for PMM.

Black exterior, is hands down, the best color. But after having several cars over the years in black, I vow never to go back b/c they are so hard to keep clean and I'm meticulous with my cars. It shows every damn little thing unless its freshly washed. Not worth the effort. Colors like Polish Metal, Amberbrown are great for hiding dirt and stuff until you get it washed. White is good most of the year, but its the worst color in the winter with the snow and salt on the road. It shows off the salt the best.

Agreed with white being nice but not good at all in winter. My parents bought a BMW X3 in white thinking that it's the best color for winter, but when the season came around, boy were they disappointed. At least for the summer, the car isn't as warm on a hot, sunny day.

 

i sense there are members on this forum who have an ilx and that haven't sign-in...can you guys sign-in please. also, I sort of wish I got white, but black will suffice (though I swear against black as it so hard to sustain its luster).

You have to stay on top of Black but it is not that hard especially if you have a garage. My CBP ZDX looked better after 2 yrs than it did off the show room floor.

 

Black is that hard, even if you have a garage. All my cars are garaged kept and they've still been a bitch to keep clean and not showing off an imperfection in the body.

 

The payoff is a great deep, polished looking vehicle that can't be matched by a lighter colored car. I enjoy keeping up the maintenance of the look personally.

Unfortunately, after all that work, my bumper got scratched up last night when a range rover backed into me.... :S

 

Well I guess it varies with individuals. I put in the time to get it there and had a routine to keep it that way and the weather we get up here is not particularly conducive to keeping any colour looking good. Your mileage may vary.

Had a Black Cobalt before hand... I could get the car to look better than new, but was way too much of a pain for the 2 hours the car looked clean.

Tired of trying to keep track in my head of the list of ages. So..quick stats as of this date:

Gray - 5 owners, average age of 44.8 years, stddev of 18.9 years
Black - 5 owners, average age of 29.4 years, stddev of 6.1 years
White - 4 owners, average age of 35.3 years, stddev of 14.3 years
Silver - 2 owners, average age of 23.5 years, stddev of 2.1 years

These are just rough excel stats need to run advance stats to see if there is any statisically significant differences. Will do it with more data points...

Interestingly, Gray seems to be favored by the older owners. Yet to see anyone with red, blue or amber.

FWIW, my first choice was polished metal, but the two local dealerships had no 2.4s in that color, only red (my 2nd choice) and silver (my close 3rd choice). Well, and black but that color was off my radar as I was trading in a black car and needed something new. I got a better deal on the silver one (by $1200) so I took that one.

Color isn't THAT important to me, obviously.

 

yea, unfortunately, dealer inventory was likely a factor in purchase decision, thus I'm not sure how conclusive our calculations could be.
