To change oil or not to change?

OK have 7k miles on my ILX and the oil minder says 30%. Going on a 3k mile trip so by the time I get home I will be at 10k miles, doubt I can make it home before it is 0% or below. Figure for the good of my warranty I don't want to be on the road and be below 0%. Comments/advise?

check the upcoming code that will be popping up (then you know what to do and not miss a service). then just get the oil changed so the car wont' nag you on your trip. unless you have time to hunt down a place to do theoil change for you. i'm anal...so i only let my dealer touch the car (and they are lucky i even allow them to do that).

Multiple threads on this topic already. Here's one.

I'd recommend having it changed before your 3,000 mile trip, but that's just me.

yeah, while on your trip the computer will nag at you. and you certainly can go longer on the oil change interval, but its just that the computer will nag at you.

you can change it before or after.

I would most definitely change the oil. I change my oil every four months regardless of the km's (I don't do much driving) never had a engine problem and in fact when I change my oil its so clear I have a hard time gauging the level its the cheapest maintenance you can do to your car and protect your investment unless its a lease.

It's a lease but I don't want any warranty problems so I will change it before my trip. It will have 7500 miles on it when I change it and rotate the tires.

Do it now. You'll feel better on the trip and be relieved you did it before.
