^I like the sema car a lot...especially with the body kit. Why thrash the bumper when the car can look without it.

You were VERY bothered by it right up until it seemed like you really weighed in on what it would take to do it.

I still love you but let's be real.. yes you can get away without the exhaust exposed.. but I can't agree that it looks BETTER than if Acura would of did duals or even a proper single outlet. Nothing more ghetto looking than a muffler hanging under your bumper like an old school v6 mustang/camaro with a danty little tip.

And, the exhaust is very visable while you're driving behind an ILX.

 

Oh good, I was debating if I should cut my bumper for a tanabe medallion series muffler too lol. Hmm... 2.5 sounds about right. I want the 3.0 with a resonator for a clean deep crisp tone after I find the funds to turbo my baby but for now 2.5 cutout.

 

Nice conversation going on here. Let's see how this feels to sum things up:

3", there is no way. The engine won't support it. You'd just be buying into "bigger is better" and that is lame.

Cutout Vs Turn Down. A only potential issue with doing a cutout is that if Acura does redesign the rear end at some point with exposed tips, then our system would not line up with that cutout hole and we'd need to redo it. My thought is to do a turn down, and if Acura does a more conventional design later, we make a fitment for that car, and make it compatible with the older car and a cut bumper. Turn down for now. If they never make with a cut-out bumper, then we can do our own if there is demand for it.

2.0L vs 2.4L. For sure we need a make a 2.4L variant. The OE mufflers for the 2.0 and 2.4 are different part numbers and as are the muffler section gaskets, meaning the pipes are different sizes. We cannot assume a 2.4L muffler will fit on a 2.0L. We'd need different part numbers for each engine size.

Cat-back Vs Axle-back. For reduced cost, simplicity, and straight up lack of need to replace an adequate sized B-pipe with an aftermarket one, I am strongly leaning to an axle-back. We just did muffler sections on the 07+ MDX and kept the stock resonators. Even with the Auto we don't get a humming, motorboat sound. This option is ideal for the 2.0L especially. As far as the 2.4L I could see doing a larger 2 3/4" or 3" system IF there was adequate engine modification to support it. That means, with a supercharger. Since that part is not in very many people's hands yet I cannot see planning on this part quite yet.


2.4L Axle-back with turn down. We could do a 2.0L axle-back as well, adapted to fit the 2.0L front pipe.

 

I actually think the 2.0 and 2.4 catbacks are interchangeable...might want to verify on a test car, but I see some civic guys use 9th gen si axlebacks.

I agree 500.00 seems a little steep (not unheard of though considering Spoon N1 are $490.00) for an axle back specially considering how short our axle back is, unless its Ti then it would be pretty affordable

Just hit up an exhaust shop and have the. Replace your oe piping with 2.5 or 3in piping.
Im reality, it seemed farfetched for a company to make us parts so a car I didnt see the tuner community embracing. Judging by the last few months; I doubt it even more.
I for one am happy about this. The "hobbyist" will do wheels and be done and the tuners will figure out a way.

 

Yea, as for me intake and exhaust are coming up hopefully within the next couple months, my exhaust is going to be first. I will take a bunch of pics and start my build or mods thread when I get everything together.

For intake I am going with a short ram wrapped in thermo tape.

If I go further in mods it will probably swapping heads to an earlier model head and upgrading valve train and cams, but that's waaaaay down the line for me.
