Accessories

Have any of you guys added any of the optional accessories ?

I was thinking about getting the splash guards and rain guards but, I'm not sure how well the guards would look. It's a consideration.

I also saw that they also had some spoiler kits, I wonder If the car would look more aggressive with a front lip.

They have:
Front Underbody Spoiler : $563.00
Side Underbody Spoiler : $793.00
Rear Underbody Spoiler : $563.00
Illuminated Door Sill Trim: $490.80 (Does anyone know what this is ?)

The rear deck spoiler looks ok and I was seriously considering getting one. I think the hybrid spoiler looks significantly better, but the dealership wouldn't put one on my non-hybrid (they even went so far as to say it wouldn't fit, which I'm 50/50 on whether I believe it or not).

The underbody kit looked pretty good, although was a bit aggressive-looking for my tastes. I thought it was pretty overpriced, but I guess they have the market tested on accessories like those.

The splash guards were hardly visible. I saw one with them installed and I had to look twice to realize what was actually there. I'm not sure they'd do a whole lot.

The illuminated door sill trim goes on what you step over to get into the car. It says "Acura" and lights up. I actually thought it made the car I saw it in look like a $10k+ more expensive car. It straddled the line between upscale and ostentatious for me, but my initial impression was "wow." If you're trying to impress in a more mature way than the underbody kits, it's a great way to do so.

Oh wow, thanks for the input.

I thought that the 6MT already came with a spoiler ? I really need to consider this front lip but i cant justify that much money for it just yet. Maybe by summer, aftermarket vendors will start producing replicas

Decklid spoiler doesn't come stock with the 6MT. Optional accessory. Originally I really wanted the whole aero kit but opted for just the spoiler. The whole kit was just too expensive for a couple of trim pieces IMO. In the end I'm actually really glad i didn't get it. I really like the look of the car with just the spoiler.

Same here. Just got the deck lid spoiler. Personally, think the kit is to aggressive for this car.

do you guys have pics of your cars with the spoiler you are willing to share? I'm still on the fence about getting one on mine, so it would help me make up my mind.

I think the silver car on top (4cruisin') is a great looking car. I'm definitely planning on getting that aero kit as it makes the rear look sportier.

Hybrid Spoiler with a chrome lip

Splash guard. I don't think they are all that functional. But at least they are color matched.

All Season Mats. Pretty much essential for me as you can tell.

Trunk tray.

Can't seem to find the "rite" looking license plate frame for the back end. Have tried three already and didn't like them. Either to bulky or to busy looking. I may go with something very simple like a plain black quality slim frame such as:

What do you have on your car thats simple and sleek?

But I did really like the silver color on the car. I wanted it, but opted out for black.

I'm assuming those prices are installed, but if you are interested I am selling the complete lip kit for $1150 + shipping and the deck lid spoiler for $320 including shipping anywhere in the U.S. Let me know if interested.

Been looking around forever to no avail...anyone know what kind of wheels were on the ILX concept car? I think they are 19 inch Enkeis... They look really nice on the car without a drop...

Wow, are those wheels ugly, anyways the lip kit doesn't look bad still growing up me and I guess anything would help the rear. Acura sure screwed that up along with that stupid hidden exhaust, no idea what they were thinknig with that one.

The wheel companies I like are Advan, Enkei, Volk, Weds Sport, Work. Some of the wheels can get pretty expensive but they are all quality manufactures, it just depends on what you like. You know you get what you pay for.

Thanks for the info on wheel companies. I was already familiar with them from other AZine threads. But I was more looking for your opinion on good wheel ideas. Sizewise 17s, 18s, 19s? What color/ finish? Pics please if you can. Appreciate it...

Others have posted in another thread some ARs and Enkei 10 spoke chrome finished rims:

Didn't you post this on another thread? One track mind...not sure yellow is the best color for that body color. But def an improvement over stock. Slammed with a roof rack... I guess at least you can ride your bike after your car bottoms-out...

yea, buy the foglight shroud used on the hybrid...it's the same size as the non-hybrid shrouds, should be a direct swap.

I did, but I posted this again to refresh our memories in terms of seeing what other wheel options there are. That's more of a gold color from my vantage point / monitor. Lol, the roof rack is a new trend...I, personally, don't like it.

I got the 17" Diamond cut wheels for summer and kept the 17" oem wheels for winter, also got trunk tray and it is worth it, rear splash guards and the illuminated door sills.

The illuminated door sills are only illuminated on the front doors and the back are just chrome with Acura logo on them. Overall the door sills look very nice imo and are worth the money but they are a long and complicated install. Make sure you get a firm installed quote if you get them.

anyone see these rims ? ~280 dollars for these 17 inch rims for the ilx.

It would make sense if its for individual rim.

Yes, those are the ones I got. It states $288.00 which would be an each price. Not a bad price but then you still have installation.

Pricey IMO, but they look good. Can get a lot of other rims for that price... I still wish they would offer the concept ILX 19 inch rims.

well as for the underbody spoilers and stuff, dont buy them from the dealer . i found a site online that sells them for 100 bucks cheaper then the dealer, oem and painted to match .

" AcuraPartsNow.com " is one of the websites and comparing there pricing ($337.50) to the dealers when you buy it ($563.00) theres a significant difference .

But, what is shipping going to cost you?

Probably still be cheaper, but that's something to figure into the cost. I'm sure it wouldn't be cheap. Self-installation would cut down on cost as well, I can't imagine it'd be too tough. Definitely can't be worse than installing ground effects on a new Camaro.

the shipping price varies on where you live, to get it shipped to my door was like 30 something bucks . its not rocket science to install a lip, unless your one of those kind of people that dont like to get there hands dirty or lie on the concrete. throwing on a lip is plug and play type thing .

I'm all for DIY, that's how I'd likely do it.
I'd guess shipping on the side parts would be higher just due to bulk.

oemacuraparts sells the aero kit for a low price as well. I'm just debating if I want that or go fast parts first.

much better (and much more fun) to have a car that goes fast than one that just looks like it does.

yea, suspension needs the most work. A moderate drop and an RSB is all that it really needs.

One of the reasons that I didn't get the skirts and spoiler though price was probably the main one.
It is also why I don't care that the 6mt has no exterior clues that it is different than the 2.0. It is when you step on the gas and row through the gears at 7000 rpm that it shows it is not your regular ILX.
