It is a computer controlled manual transmission with a torque converter, kind of a new world change so I don't know how many have gone there.
I will let the dealer do it to keep my warranty happy.

Its very simple, just need a fluid pump to hook up to the bottle. Also make sure you remove the fill bolt prior to the drain bolt. In case your fill bolt gives you trouble, you're not left in the dirt.

My ilx don’t have a full plug... it only have a drain and I think it has a small tube inside the drain plug.... and you support to heat up the car ....

If memory serves... there is a fill bolt on the top of the transmission, with a marker mark on it.

I did my own DCT fluid change at 60k, it was easier than an oil change.

Drain fluid, replace with same amount as came out, call it a day for the next 60k

Glad to see this, as I have the same 8-speed DCT in my TLX. DFoes anyone have a P/N or description for the sealing washers?
Thanks.

Further to above:

The Acura dealer told me the plugs are replaced with the trans fluid change (P/N 06237-5J4-010), which appears to contradict the instructions posted here and elsewhere.

The Honda dealer provided two P/N's:
  • 90471-TX4-000 - Searches indicate this is an 18mm crush washer listed as a "drain plug washer for Honda automatic transmissions."
  • 94109-20000 - Searches indicate this is a 20mm crush washer for Honda rear differentials.
I trust the Acura dealer that that's the correct plug, but can't believe the washer's aren't available separately.
I have no idea if the numbers provided by the Honda dealer are correct, and if they are which one(s) may go(es) where.

Is it *possible* the ILX trans and TLX trans are actually different in this respect?

Those part numbers are for the crush washers. They are available separately.
Except one of those numbers is wrong. It's 90471-PX4-000

Thanks for the info. From the photos I dug up the plugs look to have rubber o-rings on them, so the crush washer didn't sound like the right thing.

OK...... All the information below is for the 8-spd. DCT. According to https://www.acurapartswarehouse.com/

#19, P/N 90471-PX4-000 (18mm), and #27, P/N 94109-20000 (20mm), are shown as "Washer, Drain Plug(s)" for the torque converter case. (Diagram) #8, Bolt, Filler P/N 25620-50P-000, is shown on the top of the transmission case. (Diagram) I think these are the level, fill, and drain respectively.

For what it's worth, #17, P/N 94109-12000, is listed as "Washer, Drain Plug (12MM)" for the transmission case. Where it's located, though, it can't be a drain, and it sets under P/N 24519-PB6-000 which is listed as Screw, Ball Spring Setting, which sounds like maybe it's a vent. The description also states two are required, but I find only one in the diagrams.

I think that puts the matter to rest (?).

This is A dual-clutch transmission (DCT)

dealership wanted about $300 to change transmission fluid...

I thought is one of those transmission fluid change without a dipstick..... meaning there’s a small straw inside a drain plug and you have to warm up your engine to correct temperature..

Nope, you drain it from the plug on the bottom and fill it from the plug on the front. The fluid level is also checked/set from the from fill/check plug hole once the ATF is at the correct temperature. I don't consider this highly necessary if you drain your fluid into a measuring container and put the same exact amount back in.

... unless it was already low for some reason, then you're refilling it to the same inadequate level. The level is simple to measure with either the special tool or a marked-up zip tie, so I see no reason it to make sure it's right.

I know of no such special tool and I do this for a living. What I posted was directly out of the service manual...they're filled and checked just like an M/T. Very simple...

I think I got my wires (or transmissions) crossed with the 9-speed.

Is the ILX box different than the TLX? This diagram shows the filler plug (#8) on top of the trans.

drain and fill boys, it's so easy, don't let the dealer charge you $300 that's crazy talk, their ripping you off big time at that price. I have over 300,000 kms on my 2016, I have done this a few times it's very very easy.
I just have a funnel with a hose on the end to reach the fill hole, so easy, then just wipe off the magnet on the drain plug

That looks like a ZF 9 speed trans with the big opening in the front for the TCU. Interesting, I'm gonna have to investigate this in person tomorrow at work because all ILX's I've done ATF on so far looked like the instructions I posted. Same with 4 cylinder TLX's.

So I’m about to change my transmission fluid this weekend.. I took a look and found that the fill plug but unfortunately I see the fluid will run down and hit the wire connectors and harness...... anyone see the problem and what is the fix? Will the fluid get all over wires connectors once I fill it with fluid ....???????? Help.. because the harness wires is underneath the fill plug?

Must be a better a better way

how did you fill your fluid without it covering the wire harness....?? The harness is right underneath the fill plug

Getting ready to change my 2017 ILX ATM fluid. Will use Genuine ACURA OEM ATF-Type 2.0. Do you guys recommend a 3x3 trans oil service? Did this on my last Acuraa(2005 Tsx).
My 2017 ILX has 40k and hasn't had a change yet.
