2016 Acura ILX on Grange Motor Circuit
Hi Guys,
A couple buddies of mine reserved a racetrack for the weekend and asked me if I want to come and have some fun, so I did. It's a small racetrack, mainly for drifting, but we went out there nonetheless to just have fun and test our cars.
Buddy of mine was driving a V8 Pontiac Firebird, and I drove the 2016 Acura ILX Technology Plus Package. Everything on the car is stock. I did look into aftermarket rims, tires, coilovers, springs, aero kit, and a few other things, although I cannot afford it right now, so I just went out there to see how the stock ILX handles. It obviously doesn't have a lot of power compared to the Pontiac my buddy was driving, but the ILX is a very smooth ride, even when you push it to it's limits.
The tire grip could be better, but I wasn't expecting anything special from a stock tire. My friend has a set of racing tires, a oh man, the grip on those is crazy.
I shot a video from my car from a cell phone camera attached to the left side of the windshield. I couldn't get a perfect angle, so it shows mainly the left side (not exactly pointing towards the front). My girlfriend show the spectator view.
Also, this was the first time I've ever been to a racetrack, so please keep the harsh comments to yourself, since I had no prior experience on a track.
Hope you will enjoy the video:

yeah, I think my lap was around 1 minute 15 seconds. Friend of mine in the Pontiac Firebird was getting around 1 min 11 seconds, although he was having more fun with drifting into the corners. At the end of the day you cannot really shave too much time off on these laps unless you're really trying and you get your speed and cornering right.
