I have owned many different cars over the years I ain't no kid. I have developed a symptom called transmissionitis! I have only owned my new/used Acura ILX with 9000 miles on it for as little as a month now. I am looking forward to low maintenance and and many miles of trouble free driving. My questions is to tell me even lie to me that the 5 speed transmission on my new used car is bullet proof. I will mostly be using my car to commute 80 miles to work and back 4 days a week but I don't really know much about the car. Thanks in advance for all your input. Sounds like you are buying trouble. Just enjoy your car in good health!

 

The only thing I can say is that Honda's been building those 5-speeds forever, and in 2016 they replaced them all with (Acura) dual clutches and (Honda) CVTs. So by 2015, they really should have all the bugs worked out, meaning it will hopefully be one of the most reliable automatics you'll get from Honda until the new generation transmissions have been out for a long time.

 

Thanks guys. I had a dual clutch in my Audi it was nice but required a lot of maintenance you had to change the fluid every 40,000 to 45,000 miles. If you had your local mechanic do the service just for the fluid and filter it cost like $250.00 + Labor if you have Audi or VW do it it was like $600.00. I'm not gonna miss that at all

 

Audis are not cheap by any stretch of the imagination. Price for new tech, I suppose.

 

The 6 speed should be bullet proof

The CVT and DCT I have more questions about even though I own the 8 Speed DCT

The main difference between Honda's DCT and an Audi is the fact that Audi uses a wet clutch while Acura's is dry. So obviously it's more costly to maintain a wet clutch but less heat and less wear and tear should happen.
