2014 Tech Deal
2014 Tech Deal
Hey all
I have a price of 28,523 for the car but my issue is with my trade in. I'm trading in a 2013 accord touring with 11,000 miles and thought I could get around 27,000 but the dealer is saying 25,000 is more realistic. If I can get the dealer to offer just a bit more for the trade I'll hopefully have a shiny new fathom blue pearl ILX. Any thoughts on the trade in value? Does it seem fair?

^^^ What he said!! I am not knocking the ILX but the Accod is getting rave reviews while the ILX seems to get pounded by the critics. Is there something specific about the ILX that you couldn't find/get in the Accord?
Basically the driver seat in the accord is extremely uncomfortable. I've had the car ten months and have yet to find a comfortable position. The design of the seat just doesn't "fit" me. I know it sounds like an odd reason to get rid of a car but being comfortable while driving is kind of important. I never really gave the ILX a second look after it was debuted but decided to give it a test drive and it just felt right to me. The seats are comfortable and it has a better driving experience than the accord, which feels a bit floaty to me. The power isn't as dismal as people make it out to be, it feels adequate for the size of the car. I will miss the v6 in the accord a bit, can't lie about that, and the led headlights.

Thanks for your reply. It looks like I won't be getting 25,000. The salesman was wrong. I'm looking at 24,000 at the moment which is understandable with current incentives, as you mentioned. I'll probably take the deal as is.
That figure still sounds reasonable to me, BUT - if you have ANYTHING (even a napkin) that the salesman wrote $25,000 on as the trade-in value, hold the dealer to it and DO NOT be afraid to walk away until they give it to you.
I personally think the Accord Touring is a much better car than the ILX. As some have said here, the new Accord has been very well received and I personally think it is one of the best Honda has built. However, I'd say choose the ILX if it makes you happy and more comfortable.
Well I was all set to get the ILX but decided to stop by the Mercedes dealer and ended up coming home with a 2014 CLA 250 with premium, multimedia, blind spot assist, bi xenons and rear spoiler in polar silver. It's only been a few days but I'm loving it so far.
To have a comparable car I got the Accord to 29,xxx before taxes which will end up costing more for a comparable honda. Now its the same car but one is a honda and one is an acura. Make your choice.
How much was it at the end of the day? How much monthly, and how much for your first service?

Touring goes for 3grand more than the ilx tech.

Heated seats and rear view camera? What is the sound system like?

Great choice! I leased a new GLK last year and I have been very happy with the Mercedes Benz ownership experience. I look forward to seeing your pictures.
Note: I was at my dealer on Tuesday for service and they had just received their very first CLA 45 AMG. It looked very sharp!
There is a reason why Mercedes Benz and BMW are on track to sell more vehicles than other luxury brands in the US this year. The fact is most people who drive a Mercedes Benz or BMW lease them.
I feel there is sometimes a misconception that monthly payments are always higher on a Mercedes or BMW versus an Acura. The truth is - that's not always the case. The German brands are known for offering very attractive leases. In my case, I was able to lease my car with more options and an $8k higher MSRP than a '13 TL Advance for a much lower payment.
I guess the issue im seeing is I had to reach for the 30k ilx. I originally only wanted the 26k 2.4 so the cla at 36k is completely out of the question for me and I dont even compare the two anymore.
Believe me though I have no negative opinions 9n a lease. Im young and paying for this car completely on my own so lease was the only way.
And op I was indeed asking if it came with the camera and heated seats. Didnt know if they came standard. Didnt remember.
And the service plan is where you made out fat. German car servicing will kill you but the service plan is the only way to go.

Here are a few terrible pics I took yesterday in the rain...

GrigioTL:
Thanks. The GLK is really nice, I was playing around with one at the dealer when I was waiting for my CLA. The CLA 45 AMG is slightly out of my price range but I'm sure it looks great in person.

You're right about the maintenance costs on german cars, it can get very costly. I made sure to have the maintenance included for the 3 year lease term.
