'16 trunk spoiler on '15?

You guys think the 2016 trunk lid spoiler is interchangeable between all model years? Would suck to be off by a few centimeters and look weird...

^^ The A-Spec spoiler is not the same as the one available as an accessory. The one in the accessory package is the same as the spoiler in the pre MMC from what I can see on the accessory brochure.

They haven't changed the trunk at all from the pre MMC to the 2016 model so if you don't have a spoiler on your 2015 ILX, the A-SPEC model spoiler would fit the same but it doesn't appear that it is available as a separate accessory as it comes straight from the factory

^^Yeah, probably have to buy it as a part. Also need the mounting hardware and new trunklid springs. I wonder if it's the same spoiler as the old hybrid model?

Yeah pretty sure the trunk lid itself isn't changing, so you should be okay. I kind of dig the chrome strip on the Hybrid spoiler. Man those Hybrids are a rare sight these days. Actually, any ILX is.

I'm 99% sure the Aspec spoiler is the same as the hybrid. When I added the spoiler I just used 3M double sided tape. I believe it only cost 3xx something, a couple hundred less than the accessory spoiler which I believe is unchanged as well.

also, the trunk lid should not have been modified as its sheet metal and that cost significant $$ to change.

Kind of interesting, I guess the ILX is a regional car. I counted the amount of ILXs I saw today on a 20-minute commute to and from school. Grand total was 6 ILXs in about 40 minutes of driving. Honestly, in general, Acura is super popular in the mid-atlantic region, and the ILX is no different. I thought it was funny, on drivetofive I saw that you said you didn't encounter another ILX for months after owning the car, and we pulled up next to one in traffic on the way back from purchase!

I wanted the hybrid spoiler because no one had it and the chrome touch was really nice. Plus it's more of a deck lid than the other spoiler option.

But now seeing it will be on all the aspec ilx makes me no longer want it.

I got my dealer to part me one for $160, body shop wants $120 for their time to install or I could do it myself for free trunk release springs were an extra $30

Maybe that's about what it cost. I don't remember haha. Regardless, great price. Would the shop install it properly with screws through the lid? If so that sounds like a good price for installation. Of course, do it yourself and save 120 is always good

Yes, I instructed the shop to do the screw method instead of 3M. I don't want to be liable for flying parts driving down the hiway :p

Naw you needn't worry. Put the hybrid spoiler on my then new 2013 2 1/2 years ago and it is solidly mounted. Use double sided trim tape from 3M and be sure the mounting surface is free of wax. The hybrid spoiler with the chrome trim sets the car off from the other dealer offered plain spoiler.
