Where to place my TV?

Okay guys, until I get my digicam.. this pic will have to do. It's an old pic of when I had my hardwood floors done a few months ago (mind you, this is before it was stained). The window treatments will be going and new furniture in. Where do you think I should place the TV.. I was thinking adjacent to the fireplace, but that would probably take away from the focal point... Another option is in front of the windows, but I was thinking that would be bad as far as sunlight, etc. is concerned.

^ thought about, but I dont really think that would be a good choice. Shouldnt the TV really be at eye level?

I've got a couple friends with flat screens above their fireplace and it's not bad at all. They're angled down just a bit so you still look pretty much straight at it.

What is the height of the mantel? The typical install we do is 44" to the bottom of the tv in an living room or den. This of course can differ depending on the seating. In a bedroom we go higher as to make it more comfortable when lying down. Over a fireplace is something we do often enough, but if it is a really high mantel, then it can be akward to watch, even when on a tilt. The other thing to keep in mind is that you will have to run a track of some sort to hide the wire, as you have brick. The other alternative is to hire a mason to remove some bricks in order to run some wires behind the brick, and then have them place them back after shaving some of the brick off. This would get expensive though. Another option is to put it in the corner on an articulating arm. It would "float" in the corner, although it would probably cover that window to the let of the fireplace a little. It may be a lot easier and cheaper then going over the fireplace.

I've always been partial to putting the TV in a corner. Avoid the south and west facing windows for glare.
