I buy all sorts of stuff from them. Last time I bought like 10 HDMI cables to help out my family when they are upgrading. Saves them a ton.

Monoprice beats my distributer pricing on most cables.

Also, if Monoprice is ever out of something (which can happen).... I used firefold.com. Pretty much the same thing and their service is just as good!

^ Yeah... they're awesome. Not quite Monoprice... but close.

Only thing that sucks for me is that I have to pay tax b/c they're also in NC... but like I said... when Monoprice is out of something and I don't want to wait... I order from them. Good thing about them being near Charlotte, I usually get it the next day even using regular mail.

You can find some prices cheaper than monoprice, but the quality and specs rarely compare.

What length did you get? You can pickup some HDMI couplers if they are not too long. I know if you need them locally that Home Depot carries them. They are either $20 or $12 there I believe, I forget. I priced it at local places and I know they had them, just forget which price.

i got 4 ft... but didn't take into account some slack to route the wires from the ports in the back of the tv to the center of the tv, then down... i just measured down from ports to components... failz...

ill look into the couplers... but for 20$ i may as well just order new wires...

Yeah, you can just get more wires. Didn't know if you wanted to get something quick.

Pay attention to slickdeals.net posts as well. There have been a few times where meritline will have 2 6ft cables for 6.99 w/ free shipping.

I would go for one continuous length. Any breaks in teh line may prevent the best possible connection.

If you are under 10 feet it won't matter. I would be cautious of it with longer runs though.

I'm on there more often than AZ

The ones I posted had a coupon code that expired that made them $1.99. Just depends on the day, you can score a deal.

Hmmm... wonder how those stack up. I know the folks on the AVForums have tested Monoprice's cables, and they compared very favorably to Monster cables. Wonder if they ever tested meritline...

Most of the short cables that I have ever used did not have a problem. I pretty much only buy from Monoprice or my distributor because I know the quality I am getting. I am not gonna save $5 on a cable if it means potential problems and having to go fix an unbillable problem.

^ Exactly. That is one of my thoughts as well.

The other thought is that these less expensive cables are coming out of the same factory and just sold by multiple distributors

About 6 months ago, I ordered 20 HDMI cables from Meritline for $40. I gave many away, using about 10 of them myself and have never seen or heard of a problem

I don't see a point in paying more IMO, I laugh at retail prices when I see them.

The price of cables in the stores is rediculous. There is no problem in buying a short cable for a tv on a stand from anyone. For a wire that has to be run inside the wall, especially one that is ~20 feet or more I would stick with a company that I know the quality of their cables.

For me personally, it makes a lot more sense to buy from one or two companies, rather then search for that better deal. I buy these for business, and would rather build distributor relationships then save the little bit of extra.

the difference with monoprice is the quality for the price, their cables are significantly nicer than any similarly priced cables anywhere else

A word of caution for people buying from monoprice. I got a call today from Wells Fargo about some bogus charges on my WF Visa. I rarely use this card but a few weeks ago I used it to purchase some cables from monoprice. According to the WF fraud rep it's not the first time he's come across fraud after monoprice purchases. No issues besides that, getting a new card in a few days. I think from now on I'll use my other card that issues one-time use card numbers for online purchases. I'll still use the site but I am going to e-mail them about this though.

It looks like they had a problem with that lately, if you look at the top of the page it says.
We are unable to accept credit card payments at this time. We plan to accept credit card payment orders beginning next Tuesday, March 23, 2010, after we implement additional security measures. Truly sorry for any inconvenience it may cause you.
Thank you for your understanding and shopping at MonoPrice.com.
And earlier this month there was something up there about looking into some credit card problems. I guess I'm lucky that my local small computer store carries most of the mono price line.

Not entirely true. The folks on the AV forums have tested out several of the lower priced cables and other companies like Firefold have been shown to have cables just as good as monoprice. Monoprice was one of the firsts to offer "Monster" quality cables at a discount, but they most certainly are not the only ones who offer that now.

Yeah, they were recently hacked and some customer's had their CC info stolen.
