Is there any point in buying one?

Two weekends ago, we got our master bedroom furniture and we didn't want to keep our old big tube tv in there cause frankly its just huge, and old, and ugly...etc.... So I was thinking about buying a new flat panel something. The thing is, I honestly don't care how great it looks, we never really watch DVD's and to be honest I'll never upgrade to the HD channels. So is there really any point in spending money on a nice flat panel? I would really just like a decent tv to hang on the wall which look nice. Doesn't need to be that big either, only looking for a 32 incher.

What do you guys think, is it pointless? Should I just not even bother with a TV, should I wait? I keep wanting to just buy something but am hesitant cause the prices. I just can't justify to myself spending over 1200-1400 dollars on something we don't even watch that often.

Just looking for some advice I guess

Not sure the forum can offer you much advise. Either you want one or you don't. Either you have the money to spend on it, or you don't (or money that you want to spend on it).

Not only that... but if you're not going to run HD to it... then it's not worth it to get a nice TV. Standard TV (regular cable) doesn't look so great on HD sets. Digital cable is better, but not much.

So, if you're never planning to run HD through it... the TV watching experience would not be enjoyable watching SD or Digital cable.... so I'd recommend either a small LCD (17-23") or another tube (CRT) TV... but one of the newer, flat screen designs that look nicer....
