Question Surround Sound Suggestions

Now that we've settled into our house, I'd like to ask and see what the A/V community here at AZ would recommend for surround sound speakers. I am pre-wired for 7.1 surround sound up in the ceilings, so I'd like to maybe put speakers up there. What would you all recommend or have experienced with in terms of ceiling mountable speakers? I don't really want any in-ceiling speakers, but will need something that can be hung upside down with a bracket. Should be of decent quality.....maybe under $2K?

Thanks!

if you're looking for JUST the surrounds, IMO $2k is wayy over kill for spearkers that just provide ambient sound

I wouldnt spend more than a few hundred/speaker on the surrounds, and instead spend more for better fronts/center

I've got Paradigms in my 7.1 system in my great room and JBL 5.1 in our master bedroom. Before I got the Paradigms, I was very close to pulling the trigger on a Boston Acoustics set. I've also been impressed with Infinitys for the price.
But....speakers are very much a personal choice. What sounds good to you may not sound as good to me. Also- do not go by the specs that speakers have- in my opinion- they're worthless.

Consider NHT wall mountable speakers and an SVS sub.

^^ Actually, one of the high-end audio stores nearby installs Speakercraft as well. I'd go with something like that for your surrounds and a higher end front and center channel as well as sub similar to what bkknight said...

Also, if possible, listen to the speakers in action. Just like TV's... tastes differ. So what one person may like, another may dislike... so listen for yourself and make your decision based on what your ears are hearing....
