Stand vs. TV

Do you guys think it will look weird if a TV is larger then the stand? Looking at getting a 56" TV (width is 50") but the stand is 48"... so basically 1" will extend on both sides of the stand...

See it all the time. The job I just did today was similar to those dimensions on both the tv and stand. Looked fine.

I'm OCD about those things, I would get a new stand.

So long as the bottom base of the TV does not overlap the stand...and it's just the sides that project an inch...I see no problem.

I had a similar dilemma, only my TV was 4" over on each end. I bought a piece of oak, sanded and finished it, and placed it on top of my stand and it looked fine. Now I have a new TV, same size but with a smaller base and I left the board there because it actually looks pleasing to me.
