Sony Drive XEL-1 OLED TV

http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/01/t...tarting-decem/

3-mm thin, 1,000,000:1 OLED TV

The 11-inch SonyDrive XEL-1 set features a 960 x 540 pixel resolution, terrestrial digital tuner, 2x 1W speaker, and HDMI, USB, and Ethernet jacks in a package measuring 287 x 140 x 253-mm and 2-kg (3.3-pounds). How much? Well, ¥200,000 or about $1,740 -- That's about $160 per inch of OLED. Rich indeed, but so it goes for first generation technology.

OLED is very cool, but that big base kills the look for me.

Yeah, the only way I can see this technology working is if they have an umbilical cord connected to a main unit, similar to what certain older Sony Plasma and the older Pioneer Elite plasmas used. All the connections including power could be on the main box with one or two small wires going to the screen.

There is no point to a ultra-slim screen when it is attached to a large base.
