I don't know how much longer I can make it at these prices but something is telling me to wait.

They do but they sell the Samsung warranty. It's actually a very good deal, I believe something around $360 for 5 years from the manufacturer.

Yeah I've been keeping an eye on the prices on a weekly basis. The 750 isn't much more then the 650 and I'm still undecided. I believe the 750 has a built in sub. For that reason, I may go with the 750 as the image of both Tv's appear to be the same.

I may wait a few more weeks, or just after the holidays to pick one up. By Jan, both these Tv's should have dropped $100+!!

that's what I'm waiting for.

And the 750 does have the built in sub and also has an ethernet cable hookup and some internal memory for random sh*t. I personally want the 750 cuz of the sub...otherwise they're basically the same; for $100 diff it's worth it IMO.

Did you notice the 750 went up in price by roughly $70 over the last few days? WTF? Yes i'm leaning more toward teh 750 also, but the halo has me worried. I'm very anal and didn't notice the halo effect at BB or CC. Of course there is a lot of lighting in those stores compared to where I'll be setting the tv up. Rumor has is, Samsung is replacing the Bezel under warranty.

Can someone confirm that the 750 is know to "leak" light while the 650 isn't? The 650 and 750 use the same LCD, but the bezzel/frame on the 750 leaks light. This is what I've read, and im curious if a little sub and internal flash memory is worth the $100 if the leakage is going to be annoying.

Yes it's called the "Halo Effect". Some say it's a deal breaker and others don't notice it. Mostly seen in the dark.

I did notice that and I got nervous for a sec. It came out of nowhere.

I heard the "halo" effect has been taken care of in models past August '08

I wish I could remember where I read that.

My past post I said the 750 had gone up in price, when I was talking about the 46" 650 and 52" 650.

they have a deal on Blu-ray players. $100 off when you buy 4 movies! I'm going with the Panny 35k and the price dropped today...i'm about to pull the trigger!!! The move selection isn't great, but I can sell them on Ebay.

Wait a second, a guy that sees different TV's for his 9-5 has NO idea what is good or bad? Your crazy, his word holds merit.

I guess where he's coming from, even with that argument, is that even though a NCSM at Best Buy will be around those TV's 8 hours a day, that doesn't necessarily mean that he knows much unless he does research on his own. Remember, many times, TV's don't have their picture tuned to it's optimal performance out of the box, so one set may look a whole lot better than another, just because the out of the box setting suck.

Any thoughts between the Samsung 46" 650 and the Sony 46" XBR6? Both are reviewed as excellent from CNET (actually the 52" models were reviewed). My dad recently purchased a Sony and has had some issues with it. I have heard that their quality has diminished significantly and Samsung is the new king of LCD tvs??

The New Sammy LCD's are top of the line! I wouldn't hesitate for a second to get the 650 over the XBR6. Not that the Sony isn't a good TV, but Samsung by far has the upper edge on television sets. Go for it!

I am a little hesitant due to the reviews that I have read regarding the Samsungs reflecting a good amount of ambient lighting due to the glossy screen compared to the Sony's matte. With my current TV, I get a good amount of reflection form a window in the rear corner of my family room. Guess the only way to find out is to buy it a try it out in the room. I am going to compare the two tonight. Best buy and Sears both have the 650 for $1599, although Sears offers 3 years 0% financing.

I have the Sammy 4665, a two year old glossy finish model. The reflection problems are way overrated. Your eye gets drawn to the picture and your brain tends to ignore the reflection. The only potential problem is a bright light directly behind the viewer, but like you said, that is an issue with your current Sony too. The matte finish reflects the same amount of light, it just disperses it more.

Sony is basically on par if not slightly worse in quality than Samsung IMO. However, you will pay about $500 more for the Sony name in the TV's you are comparing.

I wouldn't really worry about it. Almost all flat screens are going to have that problem. I'm not sure how much worse (if it is worse) it reflects than other TV's, but it can't be much.

Well, I broke down and got the Sony instead of the Samsung. Got a Sony S350 Blue ray player for free with also! I wouldn't have gotten anything with the Samsung. It made the deal a little sweeter for me, plus comparing them side by side, I preferred the matte finish of the Sony to the glossy Samsung. If anyone is interested I got it at Sears, plus got 0% financing for 3 years, which I think most box stores are offering. Of course, you have to open a Sears card.

After reading through some threads about the 750 on the AVS forums I decided not to go with the 750, but the 650. Appears as though some people are reporting problems with the TV, mostly clouding issues.

You can look for clouding by using the blue screen mode.

As for tunning your tv(Calibration) try this thread out. It should help you find the best setting possible without spending hours adjusting the setting yourself. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1027442 There is also a link for owners at the top of the page I just gave you.

Best of luck with the Tv man, the picture on those look awesome when not flawed!

I keep holding myself back.
Partly because I'm cheap and know it will come down in price even more than it already has. Partly because I hate carrying balances on accounts. I don't think I could comfortably buy it yet and pay the whole thing off without biting my nails for a couple months.

You're 18. Let me give you some advice as my grandfather told me: "If you can't afford it, you don't need it".
Don't put yourself on a path to wind up like 2 of my friends, one 14k in debit and the other around 11k.

Lol. I'm not. That's why I'm not buying it. Especially when talking about bigger ticket items, I only buy them when I can completely pay them off. The only exception I've ever made to that is when I bought my D300, and that's because there was an exceptional finance deal going on at the time. Otherwise, I would just rather wait. Prices always go down when talking about technology, and that's the other reason, is because I'm cheap.

So last night I finally put a USB flash drive into the TV to look at some pictures and I love the fact that it has this capability. It makes it much easier. Has anyone watched a movie through a USB output on the sammy?

I know this is a thread about the 750 but didnt want to make a new thread just to ask about this...

Best buy is running a deal for an LN46A630 + Xbox 360 Pro = $1600

Deal or no deal?

doesn't sound like a bad deal, but I'd prefer a PS3.
