Receiver for Bose Acoustimass System

I have a Bose Acoustimass 6 5.1 speaker system, and now I need a receiver for it.

I dont want to spend too much money on it, but I dont want to cut the quality of the speakers either, by too much at least. I dont really know how to shop for the receiver (aka, what wattage is good for the power output and dynamic power)

Basically, what should my guidlines be when buying a receiver for this speaker system?

No offence, but the $99 off brand at Best Buy will surpass the quality of a Bose setup.

However, a well known brand will offer the best feature set, longevity, etc. What's your budget? You can get a decent reciever for $300-400 from Harman/Kardon, Onkyo, Yamaha, and others like that.

Your Bose system has a powered sub (unlike some others), and your cubes don't require that much power since they cannot output much low fequency content. 30 watts per channel would be plenty, something around 60-75 wpc would give you some room to grow later.

Remember that the 65 WPS is likely the peak output and not the constant... so be sure that it can feed the speakers with the power they need.

Question for you... why spend the money for a speaker system like the Acoustimass 6, then cheap out with a $100 receiver? Doesn't seem to make much sense to me. Even if the system was cheap or free (got from a friend, parent, whatever) it seems like such a waste to even consider a cheap $99 receiver...

Onkyo is pretty good with their power ratings. Not as good as say HK, but better than Sony, etc.

I wold guess that it's not a $100 reciever but a used $300-400 reciever since it's on eBay.
