Question...

I have two other rooms (garage and dining room) that have two speakers in each room. I have a speaker selector that is attached to the B-speaker set from my Onkyo receiver. The problem is that the sound is not very loud in either room, even with a volume control in each room (garage and dining room).

Is there a device that will amplify the sound using speaker-level inputs as inputs and uses speaker-level outputs at output? In other words, how can I amplify the sound before it gets to my volume control in each wall using speaker-level inputs instead of composite (red and white) RCA cables?

^ looks like that only has rca inputs.

I don't know of anything offhand that will do what you want...gatr, your receiver doesn't have preamp outputs does it?

OK, I'm pretty sure I have the Onkyo TX-SR 504 7.1 home theater receiver. I looked at the back, and I don't have the HDMI inputs or outputs. The thing I hate about the receiver is that I can't get sound out of the B-set of speakers when the input is digital, i.e. from the optical inputs from the Comcast DVR and Sony Blu-ray player. The only other sound I have is a composite RCA stereo cable coming from my computer, hooked up to the CD input.

I'm looking at the outputs, and I don't think it has preamp outputs. It has video sound (left and right) outputs, but that won't work because when I press the CD function on the receiver, that's the sound that I want, not the video 1.

I guess I'll either have to upgrade my receiver or find something that has speaker level inputs to amplify the sound.
