Plasma Wall mount

I have a question, I have a 42" Plasma TV which I've had for a while on a regular TV stand. I'm lookin' for a different look and would like to have it mounted on the wall. Now my question is would a 90lb plasma TV hold in place by being mounted on drywall? The last thing I want to do is buy a wall mount and have it fail on me because of the cheapy drywall.

I'm looking to get this Omnimount from CC.

Give me your input guys....

Thanks,
J

For any plasma mount you need to drill into the studs, and ensure that your screws tap into the center of the studs. Just randomly picking a spot on the drywall to put the screws with not be strong enough to hold the screen up.

Do you send a drywall guy a day ahead of you to fix the wall?

At least you asked the question before you tried to do it....
Its pretty simple, all you need is a stud finder, a level, a drill, and maybe a ratchet/wrench and you should be good.

Sorry for such a noob question, I guess as long as I have it clamped to a stud, I should be fine.

Wow, I actually found it for a cheaper price by searching online.

I've got the tilt omni mount for my 50" plasma. The lag bolts are freaking huge. You are definitely going to want a stud finder to make sure you drill in the center of the studs. Mine came with a real nice template you stick to the wall when making the mounting holes. It even had a little dust catcher tray. Getting it super level isn't critical since you can compensate with the brackets that bolt to the TV fairly easily.

You may also want something like this:

and to run your cables through the wall too for a nice clean look.

It is 100000 times easier to level the plate on the wall. Omni mounts are popular, but not my favorite. Sanus is definitely the way to go IMHO. Also, that monster thing is a ginormous waste of good old hard earned cash

It does need to be close to level, but if you are off by 1/8 of an inch its no big deal.

I wanted some sort of surge protection for my TV and I didn't want cables hanging off the TV. The monster thing met my needs and I'm happy with it.

Surge protection is certainly important. I believe money is better spent on a whole house surge suppressor though. To each their own though.
