Panasonic Plasma Issue

So I've got a Panasonic Plasma that is about 16 months old. It's my second Panasonic plasma and up until now I have been nothing but happy with it. I've tweaked it to a tee and overall the image is absolutely stunning.

But the other night I saw a "grid" on the screen. Especially when the screen is a lot of a solid color, like white with snow, or green with grass, etc. Four bars vertically and 2 bars horizontal. Evenly spaced. Like so (quick PS job)...

Any ideas? I assume it's either the backlight or some power system back there?

Now I do have an entirely new HT setup these days. So I tested different cables, with or without going through the receiver, different sources, etc. Same thing.

And I'm probably four months past the warranty... :/

Let me clarify, the screen isn't stuck on a solid green screen. I just did that for reference as when I put a solid color on the screen, the lines are most obvious.

In normal viewing when there isn't a lot of solid colors, you can't even see the lines. I can I guess but most people wouldn't.

Aren't there slides for plasma TVs that you use to break-in the screen? I know yours is already broken in, but maybe those slides will rejuvenate the pixels?

I suspect either the display panel or the control board is bad.

Unless you had something like a video game that was producing that grids for a long time, that is not burn-in. You could try running an all white screen for a few hours to see if it will help but I doubt it.

Plasmas don't have a back light.

I've tried the anti-burn in app the TV comes with for 30-45 minutes and it did nothing. And I agree, there is nothing I put on the screen, especially for that length of time, that would make such a burn in.

I figured it was some kind of power board. But I'm not sure why a failing power board would affect the screen in such a way.

I just got off the support chat with Panasonic, which was all but useless, and have a self-check procedure to go through.

I'm not happy.

Is the grid appearing on all sources/inputs or just one? Anytime there is a image issue it is best to test on all sources

I tried every HDMI input, multiple HDMI cables, component cables, different sources, receiver no receiver.

Last night I tried the hidden "factory reset". No bueno.

However the factory reset did, in fact, reset everything. And upon viewing after the reset the lines became less obvious. So I played with the video settings and the temperature does affect it a lot. But I have to use a setting I don't like.

I'll call their support tonight and see about service. I wouldn't even be opposed to cracking the TV open myself and replacing a logic board or what not if need be. If I knew exactly what it was that needs replaced.

It would suck not having a TV Sunday. 40+ people at my house. Lol
