Overcharged for TV?

Guys,

need some advice...

please note that i was in a bit of a rush to buy a tv...if i could have i would have waited...but since guests from out of town are gonna be here this weekend 1 tv is not going to entertain both adults and kids....

so here's the story...

I went into the Belmont TV store in Laurel, MD on Saturday 5/20 to check out what deals they could give me on the sony 60" sxrd tv. the salesman says $3800 out the door...pretty decent price among the retail stores around here...

Of course I go around to other stores to get their price and such....

Monday 5/22 - I go back to Belmont TV to purchase the sony tv and he says it's still $3800...me being the dumbass that I am didn't check the papers for lower prices....so I purchase the tv and bring it home and set it up...(loving it so far)....

Today, Out of curiosity, I check on belmont tv's website and see that the price of the tv has gone down by $300.

Since the tv was advertised at $3500 but the salesman said $3800 is this considered false advertisement? Should the salesman have stated that the price has been reduced?

cliff notes:
Window-shopped on 5/20-Saturday for the sony sxrd tv and got a price of $3800
Actually bought the tv on 5/22-Monday for $3800 when the price was actually $3500...

I'm going to the store tomorrow to ask why I was charged the extra $300....

i'll keep ya'll updated tomorrow....

most retail stores (eletronic or not) have... at least... a 7 day return policy, or some kind of price match... even if it's their own sale... I would call first and ask about their return policy, but don't tell'em that you already purchased a TV... Ask them over the phone, what if... suppose you were to buy a TV today and it goes on sale next week... will they price match, ask them if you can buy with confidence... I'm sure they'll tell you that if that was the senario... they'll pay you back the difference... then at that point get his name, walk in the store and hold him to his word... (needless to say, make sure you talk to the manager, and not a sales person). I'm pretty sure they would rather just pay you back the difference then to take a return...

I'm sure you'll be fine... especially when all you have to do is... show them the dates on the ad and the reciept...

good luck!

Call and ask about price matching. Just pretend it's as though you're getting ready to buy.

just got back from the store, the manager wasn't there but will be tomorrow; the guy filling in said that it won't be a problem to get credit back...apparently the website with the new prices was not updated monday on time......

gotta stop by tomorrow to get my $300 credit!
