New tv, Which one?!?!?!

Like title states, im looking to get a new tv for my room. Im looking at preferably a lcd or plasma. Size wise im looking 32 to 42 max. Just going to hook up a ps3 system and satelite receiver and thats it. I am really loving the quality of samsung. Im looking for a 8000 and up contrast ratio. Any one have any other brands in mind that are good? I want to keep price around 800-900. Any sites? Im just lost in all this tech stuff. So many different things that look alike but one little thing is different so i dont know whats going on. I have been looking at this sony and so far LOVE IT. Price is great, contrast ratio sounds good and price is nice. Any opinions?

Go with a Samsung LCD. Too small for a plasma, unless you find a cheap one, in which case you might get burn-in from your PS3.

Next time post in Electronics.

4061 has a matte screen, so slightly less contrast, but less reflection. If it's just going in your bedroom with no window to glare off the screen, get the 4065, which has a much clearer screen, so higher contrast.

I have the 4665 in my living room with lots of windows, and I don't notice reflection at all. I love the TV and you can't go wrong with it.

Like i said i really like all those tvs but im looking for one around 800-900. Ive seen a samsung, 32 inch, 8000:1 conrast ratio, seen it at circuit city and LOVED it but was thinking maybe a website has it cheap. Still looking and havent found a website. Sony, personally i think its too over priced. Your just paying for the name as for samsung you can actually tell a difference.

^ A high rated one on Amazon. Always refer to avsforum.com before purchasing a TV.

Thanks, and i am truly trying to stay away from plasma since i have heard of teh burn in issue. Samsung or LG is really on the top of my list.

Your PS3 is capable of sending out 1080p resolution and that TV, as well as all 32" I believe, will only display up to 720p.

Otherwise, that's a great TV.

The Samsung will be of better quality. The LG will be less expensive. Just depends on what is more important. At 32" you would probably not see a difference between 720 and 1080 lines of resolution. If you will be watching HD TV or HD-DVD, I would recommend the Samsung.

Negative. Contrast ratios are subjective measurements and are always rated higher than what a professional calibrator actually finds. Samsung will have better black shadow detail, IMO. When comparing contrast, only compare within the same brands.

Contrast is a measure between pure white and pure black. Some flat panel TV's have a hard time creating these without graying out the details. LCD's are typically more bright than projection TV's and your old set, but you can adjust the settings if it burns your eyes at night.

Samsung is very reliable, 15 month warranty. Not sure about LG. Both would be worth the money you spend. Vizio is also a nice entry level LCD, on par with LG.
