Just picked up a brand new set of Polk rm6800's along with an onkyo reciever the TX-SR803...

hooked up the reciever to my current Sony speakers and all i can say is WOW the sound quality is amazinggggg compared to the bullshit reciever that was bundled with the sony HTIB....
Haven't had time to hook up the Polk's yet but waiting for the next day off. I'd have to wire my room for the speakers which is going to be a bitchhhhh, any suggestions or recommendations for wiring....

eventually i'm planning on gettin a 1080p television... to go along with it, just got a hell of a deal for the package right now so ii picked it up.

I was wondering with the TX-SR803, does it actually convert analog to hdmi, or is it just HDMI switching, from what i understand its the newer TX-SR804 that actually does analog to digital conversion, Either way, i watched Cars the other day in THX and all i could say was and thats with the shitty Sony speakers....

If it is just HDMI switching, does that mean that if i have things hooked up thru component, that the signal has to go out from component as well?

 

I have the RM6800s as well - I still have to work on figuring out what I am going to do with the rear channels - but 3.1 sounds good.

 

i switched out the center sony for the polk and it sounds damnnn goood waiting to hook up the satellite speakers
