Need input on a 40+ inch Plasma;

Looking for a TV for our new apt, and came across this bad boy at BestBuy
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1122655018018

It had great picture quality, 2 HDMI inputs, and the separate receiver/input box makes wall mounting a breeze if I want to do it down the road. On top of of it all, its a sexy piece of equipment that I loved looking at. I could get it for ~ $3800.

Should I go with the Pioneer, or take a serious look at a Samsung?

Didnt get to see the 42" model at the store, but its ~1k less than the Pioneer, and has a higher resolution. The only things I loose are 1 inch of the screen, it has 1 HDMI input vs 2, and it moves all inputs (lose some of those too) to the monitor itself.

Would love to get some input from you guys; Thanx

If you want to save $1000 consider the 42" NEC 42xr4. NEC and Pio share technology as NEC sold its plasma business to Pio.

Check this thread

BTW, I have one and it rocks.

You can save even more by looking at Sammy and Panasonic.

hahahaha, funny NSX

But yes, I have the Sammy 42" plasma and I love it. Absolutely love it. That said, I love the Pioneer plasma's as well... however, since the plasma is only in our bedroom, we did not want to spend an arm and a leg for the plasma in there... so the Sammy was perfect and was about $1600 or so less then the what you're looking to spend after all rebates, reward zones, and so on were applied. So it worked perfectly for our application.

If I was looking for a plasma as the backbone to a HT, I'd be looking at something higher end like the Pioneer....

Thanx JB.

The Pioneer definitely has a picture with more pop, (the difference is alot less between this unit and the newer Sammy HPR 4272). I was just debating whether it was worth the extra $$$.

This TV is going to go in our living room, and when we move, it will go with us, and likely remain in the living room as the centerpiece for our HT. With all that in mind, I think I am going to go with the Pioneer. Just comparing prices between TVauthority, and DTVcity. I'll probably make a deal with whoever has the better deal within the next 48 hours; as they seem pretty equal according to the BBB in reliability.

Thanx again guys.

You can not do much better than Pioneer for plasmas.

If it's going in the living room it will probably be a main TV... so I'd probably go Pioneer as well. They make awesome plasmas...
