Home Theater Second Room Question

I want to amplify the sound that is coming from the in-ceiling speakers in my garage and dining room. I do not have a pre-amp output on my Onkyo 7.1 Surround Sound Receiver (TX-SR575 I believe, minus the HMDI inputs). Can I just do the pre-amp output from the "Tape Out?" In other words, can I take a composite RCA cable, hook it up to the "tape out" portion of the primary Onkyo receiver, hook up the other end of another receiver of some sort to the "Tape In," and hook up the garage and dining-room speakers to the secondary receiver?
