HDMI Cable
I have a question:
I need a ~ 100' HDMI cable. I need the best one available. Money's not an issue.
Use: Camcorder to projector.
Any suggestions? TIA.

Kind of odd that it's 131 ft long but: http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...mat=4#feedback

I would never trust a HDMI cable that long. The longest I have used successfully and reliably was a 65 foot cable. This cable was a Binary cable which has been my most reliable brand. Even at that length, I typically run a balun.

Agreed. The one I listed above has a repeater built in so it may help some.

Finally, I bought a 100' cable from Blue Jeans Cable. It didn't work. I called them and they told me that it most likely wasn't the cable that did not work. I was told that for HDMI:
The person I spoke with stated that the source of the signal (a small Sony camcorder in my case) most likely isn't able to transmit the signal through that long of a distance. He stated that you never know if the signal could be transmitted for 95', but not 100'. Or, it could go for 75', but not 80'. You never know with HDMI. The only way to find out is by experimenting. So, I bought a 80' HDMI cable, and it works great! Disappointingly, I still have a small amount of "snow" in the display coming out of the projector, but it is a vast improvement over what was being transmitted over the ~ 40' cable that I was using previously. The Blue Jeans Cable product is very robust and the cable itself is thick, due to the "bonded-pair" construction. Per Blue Jeans cable, "Foot for foot, it is the costliest HDMI cable stock in the world to manufacture."
In the end, I'm happy with the results, and would recommend this company for good customer service and a very high quality product!
The signal is not robust over distance because it was designed to run balanced when it should have been run unbalanced (SDI, the commercial digital video standard, can be run hundreds of feet over a single coax without any performance issues).
In the end, I'm happy with the results, and would recommend this company for good customer service and a very high quality product!
