Entry level Blu Ray player

I am looking at the Samsung BP1500, Sony 350, and Panosonic 35K.

My Tv is a 32" Samsung 330. The TV is 720p, and I was borrowing my brothers Sony 350 and was blown away by the quailty of blu ray. I watched Iron Man, ID4, and dark knight.

Any thoughts on theses? Pros or Cons from anyone who owns any of these.

Thanks

I chose the Panasonic based on reviews I read and the price I got at Costco. I have not been disappointed. BTW, imagine how good the picture would be on a 1080p panel.

I got the Sony 350 free with my XBR6 I just got. So far so good. Haven't had any problems with it, ahve had it for about a month and have watched Dark Knight, Planet Earth, Ratatouille and The Matrix (DVD) on it. Was really impressed with the up-conversion of the Matrix DVD. I'm sure there are complaints with it, but hey it was free...

The Samsung 330 will not display 1080p Blu-Ray stuff. Luckily, at 32" it would not be a perceptible difference anyway. With a TV that small, a nice upconverting DVD player might give you a good enough picture and you wouldn't need to shell out $20 for each movie.

Thanks, I got a pretty good price on it from Sears plus 3 years free financing and the free blue ray player. I was going to wait a few more months to see what prices did, but at the time it seemed to good to pass up 46" for $2099

I have a decent upconverting dvd player hooked up with HDMI, and my brothers bluray on my tv still was far superior. Maybe I will just borrow his everytime I want to watch a movie.

Interesting. I would not have expected a big difference on a 32" with 720p.

Yes it still makes a difference.

And its ALWAYS better to go from better source material and down res...than it is to up res.

^^ I think standard DVDs are 480i so some processing (visual information is inferred and created) must take place to upconvert to 720p. At Blueray's 1080p the higher resolution information is already there before being downconverted to 720p. At least thats the way I understand it.

edit: the above is a reply to IlliNorge's post. Sarlacc beat me to it.

I have the PS3. I believe Costco has a blu-ray player on sale.
