Did you check your hdmi cable?
Faulty cables can lead to discoloration.

^^ Let's assume you have more than one device connected VIA hdmi to your TV.
Check each input via HDMI and see if the condition occurs on (for example) TV/CABLE versus DVD/Bluray input.
If you are doing switching via your AV receiver, then you will have to disconnect you hdmi cables and run them directly from a source (cable box, dvd/bluray player, etc) to your tv to see if the problem persists.
If the problem goes away, figure out which HDMI cable was the culprit and replace it.

Either get part from mitsu and replace light wheel, or get new TV.

LCD is better for picture quality as you won't have issues with the ghosting, waterfalls, clouding, etc. that you get with LED's. As well you won't have an issue with picture brightness. However LCD TV's are far few now and LED technology is REALLY improving. You best bet is to check out the TV in person and go to a dark scene with some white to it, like the credits in a movie, and see if there is a TON of ghosting. Also check out AVSforum before hand. I did that and it helped out a LOT

Dead pixels can occur on any LCD screen of any size/shape.

The chance of bad pixel is pretty low now. It used to be very common. Buy from a store with a good return policy. I see Best Buy advertising that if you don't love the TV they will come pick it up.
