"BLANK" (Gray) recordings on DirectTV HD-DVR??
So, I've been experiencing this over the past few weeks and thought I was going crazy. So tonight when it failed to record the season finale of "House" I'd had enough and called DirectTV. HUGE mistake. They walked me through the "unplug this" and "check the connections on that" BS. While I'm talking (listening to the fat bitch breathe heavily into the phone while she's "researching the issue") I do a little of my own researching. I just discovered tonight that DirectTV has user forums on their website. I find that this has been a HUGELY widespread issue starting somewhere in December. Shows will intermittently NOT record, or appear to have recorded but show only a gray screen when you try to watch it. This evidently happens most commonly on HD channels. And ALWAYS on the show you most wanted to see (season finales, etc.) Though the customer service person will tell you that resetting your receiver will fix the problem, it does not. Nor does replacing the receiver. So, it's a known, widespread issue that DirectTV won't really own up to (At one point they blamed it on FOX), nor can do anything to fix, and apparently won't do anything to compensate for lost programming. Anyone else having these issues?
