APC surge protection

a few weeks ago, I had a direct hit of lightning that destroyed my two CRT TV's that werent on a power strip. The Sammy was spared because it was plugged into my APC surge protection box.

I'm wondering now if I need to replace the APC, since it sustained a lightning hit. I never had this happen before so I don't know whether or not the APC is ruined and will not be able to handle another surge.

You should call APC to be sure but I believe an APC unit will not provide power to your equipment if the lightning damaged it.

Depending on the device, it may provide protection at it's own expense, meaning its protection abilities may be degraded now. Call APC and ask.

You should really call APC.

As far as I know APC provides lifetime support of their devices. If the unit works, then they will probably not replace it, however if it is bad in any way due to the surge, then they may replace it. I had a UPS which got hit through the phone line. The UPS stopped the surge, but internal electronics got fried. They sent me a new unit after I called them.
