Price? Helll yeah that's a good deal. I'm sure the videophiles will chime in on the performance of the set.

OK, I was nervous there for a second wondering how a 1080p 42" LCD could be so cheap. I did some quick searching on the AVS Forum and found out why.

The native resolution of this set is 1920x1080, however, the TV is interlaced, not progressive. This means that in theory, you can hookup a BluRay, HD-DVD, or PS3 which outputs 1080p and this Toshiba WILL accept the signal... however, the TV will only display an interlaced signal... also known as 1080i.

So, the set is not a true 1080p set even though it can accept 1080p signals.

What does that mean for you? Probably nothing. It's a good set, gets great reviews, and on a 42" screen, you probably won't even miss the fact that it's not true 1080p. And that is a great price. Cheapest I could find online was $1650 shipped, but then again I only looked for about 2 minutes.

So, if you meant to buy a true 1080p set, you may want to exchange this TV. If that was not your intention and you just wanted and HD LCD, then you bought a great TV at an awesome price.

i would spend a little more maybe 2-300 bucks and get something with 1080p. NOt a bad deal though, but why not prepare for the future.

^ Just a guess here, but I would say we're 1-3 years away from that.

Short term your 1080p players are HD-DVD, BluRay, and PS3...
