3D Television...the way of the future....or a ploy to by studios to kill movie piracy
Your thoughts?
Is the public demanding 3D in the home?
Is the public willing to wear glasses all the time for future media?
I don't want to wear glasses all the time...especially the active glasses....you gotta either charge them, or replace batteries....meh.
While I enjoy 3D....(loved avatar), I can't see myself or anyone else wanting to wear glasses all the time when watching TV.
However I understand why the studios are behind it...you can't take your camcorder into the theatre and film a 3D film. It's a big "gatcha" to film pirates.
Is everyone willing to buy new sets already? Doubtful.

Starting later this year most TV's will be '3D Ready' just like TV's were HD ready a few years ago so you'll be buying a 3D capable TV whether you like it or not....if you buy a new TV.
I certainly won't rush out to buy one.
There is technology that won't require the use of glasses. Not sure how far off that is.

Again, that may or may not be true, but the fact that studios are video, and now even audio watermarking the films to find out which theatre (and now even down to where in the theatre the perp. was sitting) the film was pirated from....means that it's being done enough for them to try to combat it.
i'm not in a rush to buy a 3D tv. even if i was in the market for a tv right now or anytime soon, i'll probably be priced out by a 3D TV. and i don't want to wear glasses too.
a lot of times when i'm watching TV, i'll be doing other things like work, studying, cleaning, paying bills, etc.
people i've talked to about the subject say they're not interested in 3D TVs either. but as time goes on, i would assume that 3D TVs will be the norm like HD is now. and +1 on there being technology to not use glasses.

There would be very few movies that I'd consider wearing glasses to watch in 3D. Definitely not something I'd do to watch every day TV.
Discovery Channel in 3D?
Two and a Half Men in 3D? Not if Charlie ends up getting married. :thumbsdow
This could very well be another technology that lives or dies based on what the pr0n industry does.

WOW! I never ran into anyone who watches Two and a Half Men.
I had the same feeling a couple of years ago. Then I discovered 2.5 Men, How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory. They are all must-see shows IMHO (and none are on NBC - all CBS). I may even convince myself to watch Chuck this season. But as much as I hear great things about The Office, 30 Rock and Glee, I just can't bring myself to watch them.

...that would be entertaining.

If you can't watch The Office....but you like sitcoms......hmmmmm...I think I'm gonna still stay away from sitcoms.
As for The Office, I watched some of the first few episodes and they were terrible. I know the show has improved and I have caught parts of other episodes which had me seriously
, but I still can't get the stink of the first few episodes out of my head long enough to sit down and watch. For anyone with an ounce of geekiness (either comics, physics, video games, etc) you MUST watch The Big Bang Theory. Anyone who does not watch it must either not know it exists or does not have an IQ high enough to get any of the humor.

Sheen is engaged on the show. He can't start the abuse until after the I dos. Until then, he takes it out on Crier (sp)

but i do watch other sitcoms: the office, how i met your mother, modern family, better off ted, 30 rock.
^I'd like to see it... I bet before the 60's or whenever color TVs came about, people were perfectly fine with their black-and-white sets.... then before flat panels came around people were fine with their big ass TVs.
It seems cool enough, but I think it'll be at least another decade before it starts becoming popular, if ever, at home. And it'll most likely cost $$$$$$$$$ at first just like plasmas when they were introduced
