Well, the second link doesn't work (brings me to a page that says items deleted or removed)... but I see Sony in the link. And being a Samsung fan (have their DLP and plasma), I personally would recommend the Samsung... but that's just my opinion...

^ That's the one I thought it was. I'm not sure if that model Sony supports 1080p via HDMI. I was under the impression that Sony's next release would have this.. but I could be wrong and this one could have it. Due to the fact that I'm not sure about the Sony, but am about the Sammy (Samsung released thier new models late spring/summer this year), I'd still go with Samsung.

I also had a bad experience with the 60" Sony LCD (looks just like the SXRD, but not it). Even though the SXRD blows away the RP LCD, that bad experience has left me with a bad taste in my mouth for Sony. For 1080p I'm eying up Samsung and Mitsubishi right now...

I had the 5088....and it was incredible! Picture was really sharp and clear (once you adjust the settings). Only reason I returned it was because I went through 2 of them and the coax outputs were smoking hot, even after the TV was off overnight!

I confirmed with others on the avsforum and theirs didn't have that problem (other 50" users). So I figured it was a bad batch since both that I had came from the same shipment and had similar serial numbers.

I am about to but the 5088 agains since the store has a new shipment....but am debating between the 5688 or the 5088....about $250 difference.

As for Amazon....there are some mixed reviews of having them deliver a TV. I'd rather buy from somewhere with a 30-day return policy.
