What to use to really clean a textured bath tub?

I need something to clean my tub good. I used a bathroom cleaner with bleach, but it doesn't do much. What else can I use?

Ajax (the powdery stuff in a can thats less than a dollar) and a brush.

To clean my bathroom when I moved into my dad's place ( ) I turned on the showerhead, spread the powder, waited a few hours, then scrubbed the filth away.

Mr. Clean Magic erasers work awesome in the bathroom! You don't have to use any cleaners or chemicals with them either, so thats a big plus. I've used them on walls, wood, tubs, sneakers and I think Soopa even has some in his car cleaning kit.

I use Lysol Mildew Remover and my Black and Decker ScumBuster (it runs on batteries and helps put a little "elbow grease" into the cleaning).

x2 for scrubing bubbles and a brush!

Don't use Ajax.... When I was reading warranty info for my house using the abrasive stuff can void the warranty and do damage anyway.

Is Ajax the same thing as Comet?

We use Comet for everything in the bathroom. I also keep a tub of Lysol disinfectant wipes handy for spot-cleaning.

I used some new Mr. Clean stuff and it worked awesome! Its in a tye-dye bottle...its a foam the you spray on, let sit, then rinse. I scrubbed it with a Magic Eraser and the tub looks new again.

i've been maintaining college student rented apartments for a long time , some of them for two year periods with little or no cleaning, and i can say scrubbin bubbles with a stiff bristle brush works great. there is also a product called naval jelly (hehe sounds gross) that works very well, but lots of fumes and requires gloves etc. also some type of abrasive, i.e. comet or ajax in conjunction with either of the two mentioned products. good luck

Magic eraser works great. So does Kaboom.

The best is a steamer...but those will cost you around 100 bucks...no chemicals, and they clean everything.

Would this magic eraser scratch a fiberglass soaking tub? I bet it is good on a regualr tub, but seems like it would be harsh on a fiberglass one.

Ya scrubbing bubbles WTF /w a nice brush. Let it soak for awhile! I sometimes spray the shit out of it and let it sit then come spray it again. Let it sit, then clean...

For any rust stains that have seeped in there is nothing better than "iron out".

Nicky, we use limeaway at our houz b/c many of the stains are due to the minerals in the texas water...hee haw!

just put it on and wait a while... then come back and use a sponge... depending on how bad it is you might have to repeat the treatment... hope that helps.. use the limeaway in the toilet too!

Mr. Handyman recommends using vinegar and baking soda for all cleaning including drains. I tried it in a tub with mineral deposits I couldn't remove for years with anything. Filling the tub with hot water and vinegar twice for one day each did the job. Tub now looks new with no scrubbing.

I also tried baking soda and vinegar in a few slow drains, again worked great.

I'm sold! Give it a try and save some money and work.
