Weed Wacker Cutting Out
Whenever I press the throttle button on my weed wacker, it cuts off. What's going on? The fuel is full and I pressed the little rubber clear button three times to get fuel in the fuel manifold. Then it just cuts off.

Usually, something breaks off, causing the engine to not get air or fuel.
but it is a case by case basis. and you'll have to open it up to inspect.
but it is idling. hmmm.

Yes, it's idling, which means it's getting fuel and air. It's only when I press the gas handle will it cut out and stop.
2 stroke or 4 cycle?
How old is it?
2 stroke can be either loss of spark as the coil gets hot, or a a bad gas tank vent.
Also if your carb is adjustable, open the high speed adjustment a bit.
If not adjustable, keep the choke on a little, while you run it.

How old is the fuel in it? Gas these days will not last more than a month or two unless it's been treated.
My brother's lawn mower was doing the same thing (idling but running like garb). Turned out he forgot to treat the gas in the fall and the fuel filter was gummed up. The gas can also gum up the carb and other areas.
When is the last time it ran correctly?

It doesn't matter how open or closed the choke or throttle setting is, it will idle all day long and be fine. As soon as I press the throttle button to run it faster, it cuts out and stops.

You said it idles, does it stay idling? Is the oil mixed in the fuel properly? I'd let it idle for a bit (warmup) and then try lightly on the gas again to see if it'll cut out.
Check your fuel & air lines to see if you have holes/leaks.
If the carb is not adjustable, and the choke in any position does not solve the problem, then chances are the carb is shot. Get a new carb or new week whacker.

I've been using gas powered trimmers for a while now.. from 20/25cc Shindaiwa's to 35cc Craftsman and Honda 4 stroke trimmers. I've had to rebuild carbs, and replace pistons. Decided to try electric.. went battery powered with a Ryobi 18V Lithium (crap).. then tried corded.
Bought a cheap 5 amp B&D corded trimmer and haven't looked back. Unless you're chopping swordgrass, bamboo or small trees.. I suggest getting an inexpensive corded trimmer. Remove the shroud and watch out. You won't be disappointed.
In regards to your problem..

May not be worth fixing if it's anything beyond litesout's suggestions.

What would that have to do with a mechanical engine?
