Wall sconce

Has added wall sconce lighting to finished rooms? I would like to add two lights in my dining room, once on each side of a large mirror. Did you just tap an electrical box and run the wiring to each light, how did you run the wire horizontally. It looks like the sconce need to be mounted to a stud, but the placement of the mirror isn't ideal so that the sconce will be equidistant if they on the studs.

To complicate matters more, the closest plug is a in the hardwood floor, no on the wall. Its a switched plug so I'd really like the lighting to be connected to that, but I'm not even sure how to tap into the floor plug and then run wires into the drywall.

I always hate going through finished walls when you don't have access above or below. I don't know how proficient you are, but this is one of those cases I would get an electrician to tackle.
