I've seen MUCH worse as far as lawns/houses go. I think it was rude of her to say what she did, especially considering the progress you have made on it. Maybe you should ask her for a donation to your landscaping fund so you can get it done faster.

Do it as your budget allows. This stuff is expensive and time-consuming.

Was it you that posted in a thread someone made about their "terrible" lawn and someone yelling at them (think it was Aleee or whatever her name was)? I was half expecting to see a perfect lawn like she had posted.

I wouldn't sweat it, clearly you are working on it. Maybe you could work something into the next conversation about how far it has come since the last people stop paying and abandoned the house or how you are glad you saved the house from becoming a complete crack house.

We all have seen much worse. She could have taken a more tactful approach, but some people aren't good at that.

Luckily my neighbors take care of their property for the most part. I would be upset also if someone didn't keep their place neat. But, since you are working on it when the funds become available, that would be an acceptable enough excuse.

If she was so concerned about it and wanted something done about it immediately, i woul dtell her to pay for the sod/reseeding if it bothered her that much.

Things take time.

A sprinkler system is relatively cheap to put in yourself. That yard is not huge and wouldn't require a whole lot. Sod is def. cheap (again, if you do it yourself). Last time I looked at sod, it was 100-150 bucks for like 1500 sq.ft. or something crazy like that. You could probably have that front yard done for $500.00, give or take $100.00.

And to all the people that are saying that he should have went off on her or whatever. I can say this, there is nothing better about home ownership than having a good neighbor that you get along with. There are soo many good things to come from that. So if they get a long, why ruin that? You have someone to look after your house if you are out of town, etc etc......

^she was the one pushing the subject, asking a time line on when he was going to do something isnt very neighbor-like.. especially if you've never had that conversation before.

i would have told her there was more important stuff i needed to take care of first and whenever i started working on my front yard being perfect she would be the first to know since she obviously dwells on it every day...

since when did society become afraid to let people know when they cross the line... i've never walked on eggshells with any of my neighbors and we all get along fine and help each other regularly.

/rant.

You could always go over to her house in the middle of the night with a gallon of Round Up. Give her an "arrange by penis"

No. They're good people. In the moment I was like WTF, but in the grand scheme of things I want to keep a good relationship. She hasn't bothered me since about it.

As for an update, the yard still looks the same (), except I've cut down more of the "tree", and the "tree" has lost all of its "leaves".

It's more planning than money that's kept me from doing the yard. There are things I need to finish in the back before I can do the front. That, and with the rainy season here, it's put a halt on most of my outside projects.

That was me and was complete sarcasm. I apologize if anybody took it as a serious comment.

She has a nice luscious green lawn and I don't (no, homo)! And at her oldest, she's still younger than me, so it makes me look bad!

Looks kinda like mine does at this time. I've been in mine for 6 months. I chose to spend my budget on making the home livable first. The front yard is next but I have to cut down to palm trees first. Then grass and and building the planters and landscape. Gonna paint the whole house this week as well.

If you look across the street from mine the house is vacant and the city just took over keeping the property up. When I moved in the weeds were chest high, dead trees in the front and trash scattered everywhere. The bank has yet to foreclose on the house and its been vacant for over 2 years. Next time she says something just tell her it could be worse.

I forgot to mention in my last post...a neighbor across the street has a hood, a bumper cover, and a broken basketball hoop on his lawn...but at least the lawn is green!

Who gives a shit. Tell her to consider suicide is she doesnt like the way your yard looks. See how she likes that.

Do your honest best....and if you are doing that, who GAF what she says. Tell her she is welcome to plant sod for you at her expense anytime she wants!

Tell her she is obviously high class white trash, and you obviously just dont understand as you dont reach to that level.

Just keep doing what you're doing, don't worry about her. I also have several home projects that I want to get to but can't due to budget. Just keep working at it, she shouldn't have said what she said, but oh well. I also find it funny that the ad banner on this page is Scott's LawnService

So, this is weird. The neighbor came out a little while ago and awed at the amount of gravel I have. We were talking about what I plan to do, and she said "I know I'm not your mom, but I'm just so proud of you and admire the work you have done on this place."

Is she hot? If so, let her come over and take a look at "what you've done to the place".
