Update pix of my living room / dining room
Slow and steady wins the race so they say. Although it may not 'look' like alot of work since last update, the walls were sanded down by hand (previous owner had some asshole with cheap commercial paint do the worst painting job I have ever seen. I was afraid to use an electric sander with fears I would make the wall wavy. The home theatre is 'roughed in' with everything hidden in the closet. I opted to go with stain grade quality pine for my mouldings and baseboard. If anyone has any good staining tips I'd be glad to take them. I still have to place the in-wall speakers but I am waiting for my couches so I get the best placement. I finished pulling all cables through the baseboard and now I have to do some more drywall work & a second coat of paint. I still have about 30% of the room to wall prep, putty & prep.
Original place:
As of yesterday:
This was early in the day before I did alot of drywall work & priming.
Here's a pic from last night after the first coat. The spackle was not dry enough to safely paint around the TV so I left it till tonight.
Look ma! no wires! You can see the drydex was still pink. If you ever need to spackle use this stuff called drydex. It goes on pink and dries white I can't say enough good about it. The loosely placed piece of baseboard is a twice coated piece of pine with Vermont Maple on it. I put it there to show what the baseboard and molding will look like.
Next steps:
Crown Molding.
Baseboard w/ 1/4 round shoe.
4 Recessed lights on Lutron Maestro Dimmer.
Pre-assembled fireplace for under the Plasma.
Hidden room fake door next to plasma.
I'll keep you posted.

ot looks really cool!
How is the TV hooked up? Does the power cable connect to an A/C outlet within the wall (isn't that a fire hazard?) or does the cable go out to a regular outlet in a closet?

I actually used a heavy outdoor cord rated for medium to high loads. I ran it down the inside of the wall then outside and under where the baseboard is going into the closet to the right, back through the wall and into an external surge protector.

Thanks Everyone. I'm trying to avoid that bachelor look which is what my last place was. This new scheme I'm going for is more conservative and classy but young.
In respects to the color, it's KEW PLACE in the Ralph Lauren collection at home depot. The trim stain is going to be Vermont Maple (Minwax).

Where is the light comming from in this pic?
The angles in the ceiling shadow make it seem like its comming from the TV wall, but its not....I dont think. Who's hiding light in their pants.
BTW, looks great

Looks great!. One challenge with exposed brick is that it tends to continue to "shed" dust and brick/mortar particles over time. There are some colorless sealants that will help keep this to a minimum without changing the color or visual 'texture" of the brick. THe brand names don't leap to mind, but any high-class paint store should be able to help. Will help keep that mortar dust from impacting that beautiful floor....

Yessir, I was looking for it in Home Depot, they recommended a paint store.
