sand bags FTW !!!
That sucks. If my TL was lowered I would be screwed. There is a nice lip getting into my driveway.

That sure does...the city sucks and demands your entry to be atleast x amount of feet wide and under x amount of feet wide. It demands various things...i asked the builder to do the best he can as i def dont wanna scrape on the driveway....i told him, if i scrape, you will see some kind of "ramp" which i will be putting in the driveway and ruining your community LOL....

I know what you mean about the driveway entry.

In NY they had sidewalks which would make the lip into the driveway gradual since it was dropping ~8" in 5'. Near me, and a lot of places, there arent any sidewalks and the edges of the roads have those bowled curbs. A lot of times the land that youre building on isnt the same elevation as the road, so it has to drop/rise much faster. Thats the main reason I haven't gone lower with my car yet

well we have a corner lot....so the elevation is pretty much the same for the street and he garage and hence the driveway should be mostly level....but the city specifies the height of the entrance....so something like the driveway should be "say" 5" above the street and the connection between the driveway and the street should not be longer than 4"....so now you have yourself a short and steep entrance....

the guy who is coming out to do the driveway will be talking to us before pouring everything down.....and i will be finding out the details at that point....

More of talking about his own car, but yes, hopefully my car will be able to occupy the driveway and not the street.

Anil...almost all packed up man. We'll give you and wifey a few weeks alone in the house to properly "break her in" but we'll be up there beginning January. Can we pick the garage tile you put down since we'll be living in there?

LOL wtf dude?! Wish I could find one job, even harder this year since it's my senior year and no one wants to hire someone who is going to quit in 8 months. Oh well hopefully next summer I will have me a big kid job up there in kcmo son!

Oh also what you doing Friday? FF?

well, YES, they have that gray elastomeric epoxy paint that you can lay down with the black and white specs that you add and you can add sand to it to make it have a nice texture too...probably VERY cheap and you can always tile/rubber mat over that down the line when you DO get your Ferrari!

Day 64 - October 1th - Stucco
They stucco-ed the front and the side of the house....

Didnt take pix of it but here is how she sits as on 10th October:

Day 68 - October 5th - I got wood

They started laying the rustic hickory hardwood....2 days and they were done.

Day 70 - October 7th - Drive way and grillin patio
I asked for a 11x12 grilling patio other than the covered pation to put a BBQ grill on....they did the patio and the drive way....I think both were done with 4000psi or lb concrete....

They started on dropping the trim yesterday. Cabinets will start next week. By the end of the month we should have cabinets/trim/interior and exterior paint job....

I don't know if I'd stain them... Maybe just finish and poly would look badass.

Now that I think about it yeah it will look badass....but we are going with a dark theme....Dark hardwoods, dark cabinets contrasted with lighter granite and lighter wall colors...

I hope it turns out well....

We did the same thing. You better like to clean and like to see imperfections, because dark floors are trouble. Look amazing, but hire help to clean.

Good. So much nicer having cat5 ran. What switch did you use? Did you run cat5 to every room or just a couple? To the TV? I'm curious.

^^^ I concur....

we got a total of 12 wires which we could run....

i ran the cat5e and cable to each room including office (thats 10 right there)....then i ran the phone to the master and the office....

the guy said he will come in on a later day where i pay him cash and he will run the cat5e, hdmi, cable, phone jack in the great room....the builder was charging too much for extra cables and hence the cable guy and I made a deal

So they only allowed you to run the 12 cables? Or they ran the 12 cables for you for free and then any of them after that you were charged more?

When I was wiring houses (electric) I used to cut deals with homeowners to install different lights or run wires for them after the house was completed. Not a bad deal for a teenager at the time, not to mention the money they saved

yes, 12 cables were included in the cost of the house....anymore was getting charged pretty heavy....

while that guy was installing it I spoke to him and he said after we close he will run the wires from behind the fireplace and told me he will do it for a good deal....

yeah it is a win win situation....you make some $$$, the homeowners save some $$$
