Steam Cleaners
Steam Cleaners
Hey guys, can anyone reccomend a carpet cleaner for under $200. I've been looking at Hoovers and Bissels. I'm Moving out of my apartment at the end of the month, and I want all of my security deposit back. Also I bought my 1st house
it has new carpet and I want to keep them looking new. So can anyone give me a heads up on a carpet cleaner. Thanks
Brad

I have a Bissel and I think its a big POS. After a couple of years the home machines are shot. Whatever stuff is inside of the machine deteriorates as the detergent sits in there for months at a time. You can drain the stuff out of the machine but there is always residue. The Bissel never really worked perfect. The self adjusting roller brush would bounce around and make a hell of a sound. Now it goes through detergent too fast, no matter what the setting. I haven't used the machine in over a year because I hate it and no longer really have a need for it. I think I'm just going to toss in in the trash and get pros to clean the rugs whenever it needs it.
I've found that a good vacuum can negate the need for a home carpet cleaner. Go buy a quality vacuum (not some $80 special at Walmart) if you don't have one already. Home Depot sells some great stuff to spot clean rugs. It is a mostly dry powder. I forget the name. I'll look for it and post the name.
The problem with home cleaners is this: Cleaners spray detergent on your rug. The cleaner will not pull all of the detergent out of the carpet. Detergent is sticky. Dust sticks to detergent. Carpet gets dirty faster than it did the last time. Even many pro systems have this problem.
