So I'm a hom...
eowner now!
After 4 months of offers, and banks, and underwriters, and realtor bull crap I now have keys to my first place.
The reason I bought the house is location, it is on a canal on Lake Conway (a 1800 acre, 5 chain lake) I can't find many pass times that are better than being on the lake.
The home was built in 1959 and I bought it from the original owners. While the kitchen and bathrooms are in dire need of an update it is a very solid home. All inspections revealed very minor problems like a small leak in guest bathroom and some touch up paint on the soffits. The A/C was replaced in '03 along with new plumbing but the bathrooms are old school and kinda small, kitchen is a good size and in a nice longer rectangular shape. With the exception of the bathrooms and kitchen the entire house is terrazo flooring and in good shape.
It is a 3/2 with a 1 car garage and carport, heated sq ft is just under 1800.
Im not to keen on the exterior color but women seem to like it better. Its like a seafoam green, Im my head I envision it grey with white and black trim.
My intentions with this thread are to show before and after, with progress along the way...
Here are some pictures as it sits now:

Some other randoms can be found here of the interior...

And the canal is currently being dredged by the city so it looks 100x's better.

Awesome! I actually looked at that house when I was shopping. If not that one, then one that looked JUST like it on the canal right on Hoffner. It had just come on the market. I really like that area too. Congrats!
Edit: Upon looking at the photos in your gallery, that's not the one I looked at. Looked just like it from the front though which is odd because that's not a cookie cutter neighborhood.

No, I actually wound up buying further south closer to Kissimmee. I'm in the same neighborhood I was renting in, just in a different village. I liked the houses around there. They have a lot of character, and I really would have loved a house on the water, I just wanted something that was going to require a bit less work to move into. And I got a steal on the house I did eventually buy. The fact that it was in the same neighborhood was just a coincidence.
Hey, now that's kind of a big deal!
I would definitely change the color to something complementary of all the other green surrounding the house.
Can't say I'm a fan of the box-on-a-stick bush trimming.

Big News for sure and Thanks again, and yes it is a truly a good feeling coming home to something you can call yours.
I sold the flats boat to pick up the house but the next boat will be a pontoon party machine...
Just got internet installed this morning before work, trying to figure out what I want to do for tv. My choices are ATT Uverse, bright house, or Direct TV. Got some research to do now that I have internet again.

Congrats! Welcome to the club! Your new place definitely has potential. I like it! I know that some bash Dish Network, but I've had them for a few years now. I have their basic HD only package (they don't advertise them any more, but they are still available) and I've got their VIP 722 HD-DVR dual TV receiver (HD in the living room, SD in the master bedroom). I like it. Unless you don't already hate them, they're one to consider.

The Girl has the red collar, Her name is Sidney (Sid is what we will call her) The boy is in the black collar his name is Red.
I was just going to adopt the girl, but after I finished all the paper work and was walking out with her she passed her bro and they were just having the times of their life, so I couldn't separate them.
16 weeks old and pure breed pits, adopted from the local pound today.
I might be more excited about these two than the house.
