Small Living Room Setup Help

I'm moving into a 1/1 605 square foot place here, living room is 13 6x 13 so it is very small, I need some setup ideas. I want to keep it very modern (it has white walls and nice porcelain tile which is white and grey).

What I'm picturing right now is a black futon/loveseat with 1 of those swivel modern egg chairs to the side, a white 4x6 modern shag rug with a black coffee table and one of those free standing tripod modern floor lamps in the corner. I will have no dining table, but 2 bar stools to eat on the kitchen bar. On the wall will be a black tv stand with my LCD on top. On the walls will be modern abstract art typically red/orange/green colors.

I was looking at http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10074590 in black and this http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/70119468 (but I'm concerned that its 3 feet deep might take up to much space compared to something like this...http://www.walmart.com/ip/Emily-Faux...Black/12557153)

Thoughts? Other ideas how to keep the furniture kind of minimal but still a nice modern looking setup?

I think you're on the right track with Ikea. Are you close enough to visit one of their stores? The Orlando one has several different sized setups to show you how to utilize space effectively. They've got a 525 sf living space that's actually quite livable.

Yup they have one about 45 minutes away, I probably will have to go to the showroom, but really with such a small space in the living room (13x13) I dont thing I can really fit much more than I put up top.

Take a visit and sit in the furniture for more than a few seconds/minutes. This will be the stuff you have to use, make sure it's comfortable.

Yea nothing worse than buying furniture just because it looks good and then it being a chore or a pain to sit on.

I've heard that futons/convertible couches are extremely uncomfortable due to bars and stuff..

They are. I used to have a futon years ago. Never going back.

on Ikea. They have the small space solutions.

I have a relatively small living room because of where the front entrance is, I bought a sectional couch "L" shaped. This helped me out a lot, if I were to get a 3 piece set, it would have taken up way too much space.
