The Keurig sounds nice, especially since you can use your own coffee. My concern about them was finding the pods in the stores. I didn't know until just now that you could use your own coffee. I might get one of these when the time comes. I usually drink tea every day, but once in a while I like a cup of coffee.

And also, dom: I'm not aware of any single-cup machines that make both coffee and expresso...?

You do know there's more caffeine in tea than there is in coffee......right? ![Ponder](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/ponder.gif)
I have the "Philips Senseo" at work that my secretary uses most. It's OK, I guess....
![](http://www.senseostore.com/images/hm_machine_silver.jpg)
But I stick with my favorite Israeli instant coffee...Not so strong, but I love the taste..

100% Pure Coffee.
Kosher Parve under the supervision of Safed Rabbinate.
Net Weight: 200g / 6.8 oz.
Nothing says "Israel" like classic Elite powdered instant coffee. Many an Israeli will turn his nose at the more expensive "Platinum" blends, and when they find themselves overseas, many yearn for the "taste of home" - Elite instant coffee!

I got Dan a Tassimo for Christmas. It's REALLY fast. He has a machine at work and says ours at home is much better, faster, and looks slightly different...so his office must have the last model that was out. It becomes expensive if you want to use it a few times a day, every day though.
I don't drink coffee, so I thought it would be nice for Dan since he wasn't using our regular 8 cup brewer at all. We haven't had any issues with it, but we've only had it since November. It was extremely reasonably priced to purchase, but again, the discs can be pretty pricey over time, especially if you plan on having more than a cup or two per day.

Hmm...never seen the Philips before. Very neat design and the price is not bad!

How much does it work out to...? Because, for Nespresso, it's about $0.58 a cup (of expresso)...

This is why purchasing a single-cup machine appeals to me...

I'm sure you've looked at them a little....I think for me it's gonna come down to either the Special Edition or Platinum Keurig.
The only difference I see in the the Platinum is that it has
1- 5 serving sizes instead of 3
2- Slightly Bigger water tank
3- Slight physical differences
4- Quiet Brew "technology"

I better check if the Breville Keurig model has the "Quiet Brew" feature then...

It wouldn't bother me. I'm a heavy sleeper. I sleep through anything.

I don't know how quiet the Platinum is, but the Special Edition that's sitting on my kitchen counter makes a loud vibration twice when brewing a cup. It wakes me up in the bedroom above the kitchen.

The Keurig is quiet except when it pumping water from the resevoir into the machine. But even that isnt loud and only takes a few seconds after each cup is made.

Just looked up some info on the two, and it is significantly quieter while brewing, but it still has the loud pump noise at the beginning and end of the cycle. Somebody posted a video of the two machines.

Does anyone read this
I have 2 Keurig machines, one in my office and one at home. I first bought the 150 dollar version for my office. The thing made to much racket. So I bought the 200 dollar version with the quite technology, which made a big difference. It get’s used by a lot of people in the office. I told them just buy your own coffee and you can use the machine. It brews about 25 cups and day and has zero issues. Keep in mind it’s been doing this for 6 months now.
The 150 dollar one now sits in my kitchen and gets used heavily by the wife and friends that come over. I get my coffee from Bed Bath & Beyond, but Keurigs site has like over 200 different types of coffee, 50 types of tea and a small selection of hot coco.

Hmmm...I guess the Keurig machines are the winners then. And yeah, just read that the Breville model has the "Quiet" tech as the B70...

They have some very good coffees in their line up. Check out the keurig site to see the full list, because retail stores don't really have much of the variety.
When you buy one it should with a sample pack of about 10 different ones.
You can also get the My K Cup so you can brew your own coffees not found in their line up. HUGE advantage to the Keurig.

Well, much like Tassimo they retain the rights to use several different coffee people.

Yeah, I looked at their lineup and other than Van Houtte coffee (which is kinda meh to me from drinking at my old job), I don't really recognize the rest (yeah, I just know of Second Cup, Starbucks, Tim Horton's)...Hence, my question to how you enjoy the taste of their coffee.
So, do you use the K Cup often to brew your own ground beans...?

The "roll your own" k-cup is a great feature that Tassimo doesn't have.

Your best bet though if I store was to have one would probably be
1) Bed Bath and Beyond since they sell things similar like the coffee machines
2) Some specialty store; maybe even just a flat out specialty tea store.
![Dunno](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/dunno.gif)
Other than that, I can't say I would know of any other places that would sell 'em. I highly doubt Williams and Sonoma or Sur La Table would sell them as they are more straight cooking stuff.
