I've got a Ridgid brand from Home Depot. It's the mid-sized one with a 5 HP motor, 12 gallon capacity. I got this one because it has a water outlet on the side and it's a little more powerful.

Wet Dry vac

I have an older version of that 5HP model. It's great. You will find more uses for it than you think. It's pretty damn powerful. I've never used mine for wet stuff, never had the need yet.

Mine is about 7 years old now. Still runs like new. I've only replaced the filter once because it was really full of crud. Normally I can just bang the dust out of it and its good to go. I think the filters are washable too.

You can see the entire lineup at this link

A vote for the Ridgid here too. I've used it on really nasty stuff like drywall dust and as a dust pickup for my router table while raising panels - I just clean out the filter with my dust collector and it's good to go again. Had it about 6 years.
