Kev...we're brothers. We have to have the same tstat, you know that.
Yeah man...got super lucky with that one...helps a lot on hot days. But garage is still 10 degrees hotter than the house with the ac off during the day (basically)...so I know it'll be worth it.

Nice. That's would be a whole house fan. We have two of them in ours...one is in the laundry room near the master and the other is in the hallway near the livingroom and other bedrooms. We only use the one near the livingroom. In the morning when it's cool I'll open all the windows and turn both the whole house fan on and the furnace blower to really circulate things and get the cool air in and distributed...it's nice!

This reminds me I need to fix the baffle on the fan we don't use. I'm debating just putting a picece of painted ply-wood over it for now. Or maybe I can move it to the garage

been busy...what the fuck else is new. I need to learn to chill.

Now my lawnmower is running weird. Turns out the carb bowl gasket amazon sent is like .00001111 mm too large and I'm pretty sure it was catching the float inside the bowl and flooding the primer bulb.

Anyway...got the bathroom accent tile done and grouted and I hated every minute, but it's over now.

attic insulated, like a boss

Lookin' good esé!

House still kicking our ass... it's been one thing after the next, but it's coming together. The Mrs & I find ourselves continually saying, we should've purchased a home a long ass time ago; it's the best!

To lazy to start a new thread for updates

Bonjour Marcel !
Thanks, man...
for sure, man...homeownership is VERY rewarding. The rental house was super nice, but I always felt like I was frontin'...like, look at my crib knowing it was someone else's.

Looking good. love the butcher block top on that cabinet. The organized garage looks great as well.

I think I need to create a house thread so maybe it will make me want to get some projects done lol.

Coming right up, my friend.

Funny thing about the butcher block...needed a topper for the snap on and that piece...asked my cousin for a quote but didn't do the math...he's like, okay it's cut...$185... Not bad for what it is...but still kinda a shock to the system for a cheap little side project!

How I started off...with a $64 snap-on from 1975 from the pawn shop
20150803_140526_zpsx1auazoy.jpg

After much help from my brother Wacker...got some parts ordered and decided on a color.

Previous owner had dented the shit out of it...a lot wasn't apparent until I sprayed it since the gloss reflected it. Oh well...imperfectly perfect for 40 years old.

They also had done truck undercoating inside the drawers and there were a mishmash of drawers somewhat primered, somewhat not. I learned a valuable lesson on just how far overspray can go and get on everything. I'll never paint anything in my garage again...too much work to scrub the floors down after.

Sanded out, brought the corners back to stainless instead of black they had painted everything...fixed up the old school logo which you can't order anymore either...

Screenshot_2015-09-06-22-41-53_zpsdqmhzuuf.png
got some real drawer releases...I managed with some feeler gauges bent up, but this was the best way...had to dremel down the edges to get them to fit in the smaller drawers.
20150911_173149_zps0opavg4m.jpg

touched up their rhino line job...figured keeping the insides black instead of exterior color would stand up the the wear and tear of tossing tools in there...
20150911_173132_zpsbln49t7q.jpg

Primered all edges
20150911_180605_zpsych4h2vs.jpg

did some bondo on the major gashes and dents, although I missed a TON...
20150911_173128_zpsvpa6gw1n.jpg

20150912_144822_zpssygf7y8x.jpg

primered, ready to go
20150912_145919_zpsgfngugfe.jpg

20150912_175639_zpszzr9ywlv.jpg

tackled the drawers first

20150912_104718_zpsm3m3bqdp.jpg

opted for a 50's art deco turquoise that I love...I figured if I was putting in the time...red wasn't my color anyway.
20150912_111723_zpswt8pejng.jpg

20150912_125735_zpsb4a3vlne.jpg

bout to rain, brought em in
20150912_125745_zpsf8puelfy.jpg

same butcher block...stained
20150912_171221_zpsedc6rrq6.jpg

20150912_172057_zpssiydj9xd.jpg

was able to retrofit a newer lock Wacker sent me...it works...but I must be missing a drawer because it isn't actually locking them.
20150913_094212_zpsmlat2rjp.jpg

here you see the original rusty red...
20150913_094233_zpsbxx0covc.jpg

New slides...all lubed up with white lithium grease
20150913_095528_zpsjjwfkfea.jpg

drawer liners, although I need more
20150913_101517_zps82rwgq6f.jpg

Next up...the 1953 topper I bought off ebay...decided to tackle in two stages and that's next.

Final product:

Still missing the handle, drawer liners and hopefully the edge guards. I originally considered going high end acrylic on this job...and finally learning how to use my spray gun, but in the end...the timing of taking on a new hobby with a lot of cost and time and lessons learned, didn't jive.

I cannot believe the quality of the finish that comes out of those rustoleum rattle cans though...they are amazing, even though I didn't body work it perfect etc.

My GF would love that color !!

in a good way I swear !! Great job per the usual J. Your attention to detail and dedication to your craft is impeccable..

Seriously love that butcher block for your project inside... Love it outside too!! Definitely gonna get one too once my parents house is done too but I don't think I will go the DIY route. The rest of my tool storage is from Gladiator Garageworks line and they have a very nice line of work benches to match..photo119.jpgphoto42.jpg

I have some sweet old steel toolboxes.. I thought about redoing them, but I love the character they have. My favorites is an Old Milwaukee toolbox I grabbed out of an old Motorola tool lab. Over 50 years of dedicated use.. I gave it a good home.

Something tells me it'll get a bottle opener once he finds one that "isn't so mainstream" and "you probably never heard of it". Or Pabst.

Seriously love that butcher block for your project inside... Love it outside too!! Definitely gonna get one too once my parents house is done too but I don't think I will go the DIY route. The rest of my tool storage is from Gladiator Garageworks line and they have a very nice line of work benches to match..
Very nice, man...thanks! I love the garageworks stuff...but pricey!

I didn't do it on purpose, I swear!

Hell yeah man... I love old shiet...old lawnmower, old cars, old tool boxes...I love it all...something about saving it from the scrap yard and giving it new life with a little elbow grease and creativity. I actually found a heavy duty Milwaukee hammer drill case behind some old hospital in Belle Glade...kept it banged up and red though, since it looks cool that way!

Dude, that looks facking awesome. Love the color choice, it's very unique and classy.

I was thinking you'd paint it Rio Yellow...

Love the butcher block too, inside and out. Definitely makes a great statement and a nice design choice.
