Raised End Panels on cabinets
Guys - when you have bought new or done kitchen cabinet makeovers - did you also get the raised end panels for the cabinets or leave them plain? I have the option to put raised end panels...what do you guys have or see done?
Thanks.
Thanks.

yes, you know where the cabinet just ends - maybe where the kitchen opens to a hallway or to the backdoor slider - rather than just have plain wood (probably veneer) you have the option of putting a raised panel instead. Not so it looks like another door per se, but to finish it off.

i didn't, but i went for a very minimalist cabinet style.
depending on your style, your cabinets, it could look very nice... and maybe even necesarry. if you have fancy door fronts, slab sides would look `unfinished` as you say.

If you know who the cabinet manufacturer is, you could wait till after the all the cabinets are up. Then if you decide you want to do it, it's a pretty easy task to put one on the end.
We lucked out when we bought our place. The cabinet manufacturer is about a mile from us, American Cabinetry. You can see their trailers on the side of their property as it backs the Tpk Southbound between exit 8A and 8.

We did ours, but did it after the house was built. We "lucked" out b/c we made the builder replace several of our cabinet doors since they had small spits in them at the joint. They splits were inside and you cannot see them, but we had them replaced anyway. When they took the split ones down we kept them, then had the cabinet guy install them while he was here switching out the cabinet doors. We had the front of the island and two exposed sides of the cabinets in the kitchen done, as well as one in the master bath which is on the only exposed side cabinet (other side finishes into the wall).
It looks hot, everyone comments on it, and cost us nothing. Gotta love that![Big Grin](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Oh, and FYR, the cabinet company would have charged anywhere from $200 to $350 per panel depending on the size. I'm sure the pricing is negotiable and each cabinet company is different, but just wanted to throw that out there for your info

Here is what we have option of:
- doing nothing and having the cabinet ends be plain wood, including island
- do a bead board on the 3 sides of the island and raised end panels on all cabinet ends
- or do raised panels on all cabinet ends and on the 3 sides of the island
